Disney World Extends Disability Access Service Registration Window

Disney’s New Advanced Disability Access Service

Walt Disney World has announced another update to its Disability Access Service (DAS) program, aimed at improving the planning process for guests who rely on the service. The registration window for DAS has been extended from 30 days to 60 days before a park visit, providing more flexibility for guests during their trip preparation.

New Registration Window

The updated policy now allows guests to begin the DAS registration process up to 60 days before their visit, whereas previously, registration could only begin 30 days in advance. This extended lead time gives guests additional opportunities to discuss their needs with a Cast Member via live video chat and plan their itinerary accordingly.

This change also allows families to make adjustments to their plans if eligibility for DAS is a deciding factor in their visit.

Benefits of the Extended Timeline

The extended registration period is a welcome change for many visitors with disabilities. Giving guests more time to assess their accommodations ensures a smoother experience, especially for those traveling with unique requirements. Knowing one’s eligibility well in advance can make it easier to confirm reservations, select tickets, or even reconsider plans if adjustments are needed.

This change is also part of a wider effort to balance accessibility with proper use of the program.

Recent DAS Policy Updates

The extension of the registration window reflects ongoing adjustments to DAS policies at Walt Disney World. For example, in May 2024, Disney made notable changes to the DAS program, such as removing in-person registration and updating guidelines on who qualifies for accommodations. These updates also included a partnership with Inspire Health Alliance to ensure the appropriate use of DAS.

Further changes introduced last year involved adjustments to the DAS validity period, the removal of DAS Advance planning options, and enhanced training for Cast Members to better assist guests with disabilities.

Conclusion

With these shifts in place, guests planning to use DAS can look ahead to their Disney vacations with added confidence and convenience. Families are encouraged to take advantage of the updated timeline to ensure a magical and stress-free visit to Walt Disney World.
