Disney Vacation Club Refurbishment Schedules: A Look Ahead

Disney Vacation Club Refurbishment Schedule

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) properties are renowned for their impeccable standards and magical touch. Regular refurbishments are necessary to maintain the high-quality standards associated with Disney and enhance guests’ overall experience. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming DVC refurbishment schedules and understand why these updates are essential.

The Need For Periodic Refurbishments

DVC rooms undergo periodic refurbishments to keep the properties fresh, up-to-date, and address any wear and tear. These updates not only maintain the high standards of Disney but also ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and hassle-free stay. New features and amenities, such as Murphy-style pull-down beds, may be added during these refurbishments.

Types of Refurbishments: Hard Goods & Soft Goods

Refurbishments in DVC resorts can be classified into two categories: hard goods and soft goods refurbishments.

Soft Goods Refurbishments

Soft goods refurbishments occur approximately every seven years. They involve updating items like bedding, curtains, carpets, and other textiles within the rooms. Additionally, a fresh coat of paint or new wallpaper may be applied to refresh the room’s appearance.

Hard Goods Refurbishments

Hard goods refurbishments are more extensive and typically take place every 14 years. They involve replacing furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Significant changes to the room layout, bathroom renovations, or kitchen upgrades may also be part of hard goods refurbishments.

Current DVC Refurbishment Schedule

Here is the current refurbishment schedule for various DVC resorts along with their anticipated completion dates:

2024

  • Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
  • Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort
  • Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

2025

  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House
  • Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas
  • Disney’s Grand Californian Villas

The refurbishment plans for Bay Lake Tower are on track to begin in 2024, but will be completed sometime in early 2025.

Please note that these schedules are subject to change, but these refurbishment forecasts can provide some clues for DVC members and guests (renters as well) to more effectively plan their vacations in the coming years.

Financing The Refurbishments: How It Works

Refurbishing DVC properties is financed through a reserve fund set up in each resort’s annual dues. DVC members contribute to this fund through their annual dues, which vary based on factors such as property age, condition, required refurbishments, and material and labor costs. These funds are strictly used for maintenance, repair, and refurbishment, ensuring that every DVC resort remains a high-quality, desirable destination for its members.

Wrapping Up

Disney’s commitment to maintaining and improving their properties guarantees a magical experience for DVC members and guests. The periodic refurbishment schedules ensure that DVC resorts remain fresh, up-to-date, and meet the high standards associated with Disney’s brand. By investing in the future of their home resorts, DVC members contribute to preserving and enhancing the magic of Disney for years to come.
