Disney has announced that Disney KiteTails will be ending this month in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Guests will have their final opportunity to see the show on September 30, 2022 before it performances will no longer be available.
The official statement from Disney is below:
“As you know, Disney KiteTails debuted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park for the launch of the 50th Anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort. After this first year, we will transition the entertainment on Discovery River Lagoon to the Flotillas. The last flight for Disney KiteTails will be September 30, 2022. We look forward to seeing our guests continue waving to their Disney Friends cruising by on Flotillas, embracing Disney pals with up-close encounters, and more to come as we introduce our Festive holiday season offerings in the months ahead.”
We all knew that Disney KiteTails would come to an end eventually, since it was a specialty showing that Disney created in celebration for the 50th anniversary. This is earlier than expected, however, since other 50th anniversary shows such as ‘Harmonious’ and ‘Disney Enchantment’ are continuing until the end of March 2023.
Regardless, many guests enjoyed the addition of Disney KiteTails in Disney’s Animal Kingdom over the last year. From the joy of seeing the one of a king three dimensional kites dancing above the water to the classic music of ‘Jungle Book’ and ‘The Lion King’ to the hilarity of seeing the larger kites crash, it was became a family favorite for many.
We will be sad to see Disney KiteTails end on September 30th, 2022 but are excited to see what else will come next to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
