Celebrate Women’s History Month In Walt Disney World



International Women’s Day has kicked off the Women’s History Month celebrations. Celebrations can be experienced in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Springs, and even select Walt Disney World Resorts! There is tons to see, do, and taste throughout the month of March, so let’s check out all the way to celebrate Women’s History Month in Walt Disney World.

Food

Magic Kingdom

Sweet treats will be available at Magic Kingdom to honor the female Disney Imagineers who have helped mold Disney into what it is today.

Liberty Square Market

Enjoy a Madame Leota Cupcake inspired by Leota Toombs, the Imagineer whose likeness was used to create the iconic character for the Haunted Mansion attraction.

The cupcake is a chocolate-cherry cake filled with black cherry-lime cream finished with blackberry buttercream.

Friar’s Nook

“it’s a small world” Cupcake inspired by Mary Blair who is credited with bringing modern art to the Disney parks.

The cupcake is a lemon funfetti cake, blue raspberry buttercream, and vanilla-lemon buttercream.

Select Outdoor Carts

Cinderella Castle Mosaic Cupcake inspired by Dorothea Redmond who was a renowned painter and illustrator with Disney.

The cupcake is a champagne-flavored cake filled with fresh raspberry champagne compote, finished with gold champagne buttercream, mosaic tile sprinkles and chocolate garnish.

Walt Disney World Resorts

Two of Walt Disney World Resorts will be bringing the magic with items inspired by the women of “Encanto”.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be highlighting Mirabel and Luisa in their dishes. Their offerings for the month of March are listed below:

  • Chorizo Arepas: Cheese arepas topped with chorizo, red pepper and onion-egg scramble, arugula, and sliced avocado
  • Mirabel Cupcake: Cinnamon cupcake filled with custard and topped with coconut buttercream, toasted coconut, and Mirabel-inspired fondant garnishes
  • Luisa Push-Up Cake Pop: Layers of vanilla cake and tres leches pastry cream topped with a doughnut hole ‘boulder’
  • Encanto Cholado: Crushed ice topped with sliced fresh fruit, sweetened condensed milk and shredded coconut

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will offer two of the same dishes as All-Star Movies Resort as well. Here guests can get:

  • Chorizo Arepas: Cheese arepas topped with chorizo, red pepper and onion-egg scramble, arugula, and sliced avocado
  • Mirabel Cupcake: Cinnamon cupcake filled with custard and topped with coconut buttercream, toasted coconut, and Mirabel-inspired fondant garnishes

Disney Springs

Various locations at Disney Springs will be offering specialty menu items throughout the month in honor of Women’s History Month. The following places will have signature food and drinks.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

The specialty menu items at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar were created by female chefs.

  • Nona’s Home-Style Meatballs presented by Sous Chef Lori Tiritilli: Italian meatballs with Sunday gravy, basil pesto, and scratch-made lemon ricotta, grilled focaccia crostini, grated pecorino cheese
  • Carne Frita con Tostones presented by Sous Chef Natalie Floyd: Crispy pork shoulder tostones, pickled onions, citrus aioli

Amorette’s Patisserie

A specialty desert item called “The Passion of My Life” was created by Pastry Chef Yoly Lazo Colon.

It features a pineapple, mango and toasted coconut mousse, coconut chiffon cake, white chocolate crisp pearls and infused passion fruit glacage

The Ganachery

Developed by two female Chocolatiers, Chocolatier Katie Dodge and Chef Chocolatier Amanda Lauder, the Lady Tano Pop is a Plant-based coconut and blueberry swirled ganache topped with dark 65% chocolate.

Art & Music

All Over Disney World

Guests will be able to find photo-silhouette backdrops all over Disney World from over 20 Disney Resort hotels to Disney Springs. These backdrops will allow guests to take photos with their favorite Disney heroine. Guests can tag these photos on social media using the hashtag #CelebrateHERStory.

Disney Springs

Enjoy some music at Disney Springs on Friday and Saturday evenings with a female DJ that will lead family friendly sing-alongs on the AdventHealth Waterside Stage. Each playlist will feature songs from Disney’s beloved female characters.

In addition, other nights will feature a variety of female performers during the month of March.

EPCOT

Part of the entertainment at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival includes the Garden Rock Concerts Series. There will be plenty of female artists performing at the America Gardens Theatre this month. The list of performers and dates are as followed:

  • Skillzmatic – March 2, 3, 29, 30, 31
  • Melina León – March 11,12
  • CeCe Winans – March 13, 14
  • Hello Sister – March 15, 16, 17
  • Glass Ceiling – March 22, 23, 24

Women’s Stories

Online

For the month of March the Play Disney Parks App will be offering a trivia game called “Women of Imagineering” that highlight the current and former female Disney Imagineers who have made notable contributions to Disney.

In addition, the Disney MobileMagic Service will offer new designs with female Disney characters such as Mrs. Incredible, Edna Mode, Minnie Mouse, and other favorites. These will be exclusively available for March so enjoy them while you can!

EPCOT

Epcot will be featuring two special exhibits this month highlighting female pioneers. Here is what to expect and where to find each exhibit.

“Rally of the Gazelles (Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc)”

This exhibit honors the Moroccan all-female off-road race. This race requires its competitors to have excellent navigation skills, an incredible amount of determination, and the ability to work as a team.

This exhibit will be located in the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot.

“Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art”

This exhibit will showcase historical Native artifacts in addition to contemporary works of American Indian art. The art and artifacts will show guests a variety of cultural traditions that have been passed down generation to generation. Some notable artists that will be displaying their works include:

  • Loren Aragon (Acoma Pueblo) – Fashion Designer
  • Glenda McKay (Ingalik-Athabascan) – Doll Maker
  • Juanita Growing Thunder (Assiniboine Sioux) – Quill and Bead Work

Guests can find this incredible display in the America Pavilion.

Merchandise

Guests will be able to enjoy new specialty merchandise items available all throughout Disney World. There will even be new nuiMOs outfits designed to celebrate female empowerment. The outfits will be making their way to Disney park shopping locations soon!
