Some parents make the decision to pull their kids out of school during the school year for their Disney vacation. This is a decision that works for some families but perhaps not all families. If you and your family are considering visiting Disney during the school year continue reading for some tips and tricks.

Plan Ahead Around School Schedules

When making the decision to take your kids to Disney World during the school year it is extremely important to look ahead and make note of any school events your trip might conflict with. It’s easy to think about major events like school breaks, graduation ceremonies, and school plays and programs, but don’t forget about the small events as well. Holiday parties, 100th day of school celebrations, and certain assemblies might be important to your child to attend.

Talk To Your School’s Administration

Whenever you take your child out of school for more than a few days its really important to remember to talk to the school’s administration beforehand. They might have certain policies in place for families taking vacations, and they might even offer an excused absence if the vacation can count toward an educational experience. Make sure you get familiar with the attendance policy, and be sure that your child has plenty of absences available to them to use.

Get Your Child’s Homework Ahead of Time

It will be easier for both your child and your child’s teacher if you gather all of their homework prior to leaving on the trip. Your child can work on their homework while you travel to Disney World, whether you are traveling via car or airplane. Your child might even be able to finish all of their work before the vacation even begins so everyone can relax.

Pack Your Trip With Educational Experiences

The great thing about a Disney vacation is that there are plenty of educational experiences you can pack your schedule with. You won’t have to feel quite as bad taking your child out of school when you know they are having an enriching and fulfilling vacation full of entertainment and education. Our favorite educational attractions and experience include Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, The American Adventure, Conservation Station, and every country pavilion within World Showcase. Sometimes we learn the best by living experiences, and Disney vacations have so many experiences to offer us and our children.
