Many Disney fans have been wondering about which attractions will be open once Disneyland opened to the public on April 30th, 2021. Now, Disney has announced a fan favorite attraction will be experiencing some changes that will allow Disneyland guests to experience this immersive attraction. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance’s run time has been reduced to below the 15 minute limit that was instated by California lawmakers.
Disney had to contend with California state guidelines, which indicated that indoor attractions were only able to open if their runtime was 15 minutes or less. Rise of the Resistance’s previous runtime was 18 minutes long, so some changes had to be made to ensure the attraction’s availability to park guests.
Portions of this ride that will be shortened are the walk through sections of the ride, and could also include the area that contains the Stormtroopers. Instead of guests being able to linger for awhile in this area, they may be more quickly ushered to the next part of the ride.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of Disney’s most technically advanced rides, and even includes virtual cameos from the original cast. It is an absolute marvel of an attraction, and it is also a new addition to Disneyland, as it only opened in 2019. Guests would have been quite disappointed if this attraction was not allowed to open with the rest of the park due to being just 3 minutes too long. Disney imagineers, of course, have gotten creative and found a way to abide by government policies while giving guests the amazing and magical Star Wars experience they have been waiting for.
