Are you planning on booking a trip to Tokyo Disney soon? With Tokyo Disney celebrating its 40th Anniversary starting April 15th, many people worldwide plan to join the fun. Over the past three years, many changes have been made when booking your vacation for an international Disney destination. Read on for tip on planning a trip to Tokyo Disney in 2023!
Call Ahead
The biggest struggle with purchasing tickets from the United States for Tokyo Disney is that credit cards from the US are automatically blocked for any transactions. You will need to contact Tokyo Disney for a customer service representative to unblock the ability to use an American credit card. To avoid high fees for international calls, it is highly recommended to use Line or Skype to purchase credits for international calls at a much lower rate, costing as little as a penny per minute.
Before calling Tokyo Disneys customer service line, ensure you have an account created for their Disney Resort website. If you have a My Disney Experience App in America, your login will automatically work for the Disney Resort app and website. Once you have your account ready, customer service can unblock the credit card block on your account for 48 hours. If you don’t purchase your tickets within those 48 hours, you must restart the entire process.
Ticket Changes
Previously, multi-day tickets and annual passes were available for purchase, but now, only one-day tickets are available. When purchasing tickets for multiple days, you have to make individual transactions for each day of your trip. With individual purchases, it’s best to use a credit card that doesn’t charge for international transactions. In the past, you used to be able to call over the phone to make ticket purchases, but this option has been eliminated, meaning they can indeed only be bought online while you’re in the United States.
Plan Ahead
Like at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, you must plan and make park reservations. While using the Tokyo Disney website, you can see if parks are close to selling out or if there are a lot of remaining tickets. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are currently not allowing park hopping, so plan enough days to get everything done since you cannot go back and forth as you please to get to any attraction you may have left on your list.
On the Disney Resort app, you can create groups for your park days, but ensure you have everyone in your booking when creating the group. Once you do, you can only add someone by canceling it and recreating the group.
