It has just been announced that masks are now optional on Disney’s Skyliner for vaccinated guests!
This news comes only one month after Disney’s policy change on February 17th that fully vaccinated guests were no longer required to wear facial coverings indoors. At the time, the policy still required all guests to wear masks on Disney transportation, but that is no longer the case. Although guests ages 2 and up are still required to wear facial on Disney’s monorail and bus transportation, guests riding on the Skyliner gondolas will no longer need to don their face masks.
The Skyliner gondolas make the most sense for Disney to make face masks optional, since only one group is in the gondola at a time. Since many different parties are in the same space on buses or the monorail, Disney may choose to keep masks as a requirement on those transportation systems for a while longer. However, this change shows that Disney is steadily moving forward with diminishing their previous COVID-19 safety precautions.
Disney is making these changes in reflection of Florida’s constantly decreasing COVID-19 numbers, creating a balance of safety and enjoyment for their Cast Members and Guests.
Disney does still require guests ages 2 and older who are not fully vaccinated to wear their facial coverings while indoors, whether that be on attractions, dining location, or Disney transportation.
