Attraction Overview
The Mad Tea Party is a spinning attraction, themed after Alice’s Unbirthday party in Wonderland. The Mad Tea Party was an original attraction at Disneyland’s reopening on July 17, 1955. It underwent refurbishment beginning in 1982, and reopened May 23, 1983. It was originally located next to the King Arthur Carousel, but during the refurbishment period it was moved to its present location. This is also when the colorful aspects of the ride along with the lanterns.
The attraction contains three turntables that rotate clockwise with six tea cups on each one. Those three turntables are situated on top of one larger turntable that rotates counterclockwise, for the perfect spinning ride. Guests can make their tea cups spin faster by turning the wheel inside of their teacup.
Guests should be advised that this attraction is available sunny days only. The tea cups are not able to operate when it is raining since the turntables won’t spin when wet since it is not covered.
This attraction is always a thrill to ride, but is really spectacular at night. The lanterns light up and project lights down onto the tea cups as they spin creating even more fun.

Mad Tea Party is located in Fantasyland nestled in between Alice in Wonderland the Storybook Land Canal Boats. It can also be easily spotted by heading toward the Matterhorn Bobsleds as the Mad Tea Party is right next to it.
Wait times for this attraction are usually pretty low. Since the wait times are low, this ride is great to hit at any point during the day without too long of a wait. As previously noted, this ride is pretty special at night and the wait times will be low then as well. It would be a good choice to ride before leaving the parks to get the best of both worlds.
Queue Experience
The queue for the Mad Tea Party is all outdoors, so there is not much to see in terms of theming beyond what is in the ride itself. Guests waiting in line will be able to watch the tea cups spin and, if they are there at night, the lanterns project colors for quite a spectacular sight. Guests may also Be able to catch a glimpse of Alice on a visit from Wonderland as well while waiting in the queue.
