The Upcoming Closure of MuppetVision 3D
MuppetVision 3D, a long-standing attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is set for closure, making way for a new project. The ride’s final days are approaching, though an exact end date has not been announced.
Initially opened in 1991, MuppetVision 3D was the last project Jim Henson worked on before his passing, making it a historically significant piece of Disney and The Muppets’ legacy. Its closure paves the way for a Monsters Inc.-themed area announced during D23 in 2024, with new attractions planned to take over the current MuppetVision footprint.
Future of The Muppets at Disney Parks
While the closure of MuppetVision 3D is a big change, Disney has indicated that they are trying to find a way to preserve aspects of the attraction for future enjoyment, with speculation that the ride would be preserved in virtual reality for future generations to enjoy.
Additionally, The Muppets remain a beloved part of the Disney family, which lead to their involvement in other attractions within the parks such as a revamped Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
