DVC Shop’s Friday For Foodies is an exploration of dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. The first series in this journey through Disney World’s food is called “Eating Around The World Showcase at EPCOT.” As part of this series, DVC Shop will dine at restaurants around the World Showcase in order to explore their food items and overall dining experience. This week’s featured dining location is Chefs de France!
Overview of Chefs de France
Located in the France pavilion, Chefs de France evokes a charming Parisian cafe. The menu focuses on French food that highlights fresh and simple ingredients, prepared delectably. Currently, Chefs de France is open for lunch and dinner daily, and offerings at both meal times are the same.
Food & Drink Items We Tried
Chefs de France offers both an a la carte menu as well as a $65.95 prix fixe meal that includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert, and choice of one glass of wine or a non alcoholic beverage. We did one prix fixe meal and ordered a few a la carte items too. Not every a la carte entrée is eligible for the prix fixe meal, but everything we tried is!
Appetizers
All appetizers can be ordered a la carte or as part of the prix fixe meal.
Tartare de saumon legerement fume, sauce a l’aneth – $17.50
This is a raw salmon tartare preparation that is lightly smoked and served with cucumber and dill sauce.
Soupe à l’oignon gratinée – $13.95
The featured soup is a French onion soup topped with Gruyère cheese.
Entrées
Chefs de France offers a plethora of entrées, but not all can be ordered as part of the prix fixe meal. Prix fixe pricing allows you to order one of: the filet de saumon with riz pilaf and sauce beurre blanc, the ratatouille sur quinoa, the poulet fermier roti with pommes Lyinnaise and haricot vert, or either of the two entrées we tried.
Boeuf Bourguignon, linguine – $34.95
This hearty dish is a braised beef in Cabernet with baby onions, carrots, and pasta.
Gratin de macaroni – $26.95
An elevated take on the classic! The Chefs de France version is macaroni baked with cream and Gruyère cheese.
Wine
The drinks menu at Chefs de France is extensive, and will absolutely have something to complement your meal.
Cabernet Sauvignon Georges Duboeuf – $7.95
The prix fixe menu allows for your choice of chardonnay, Georges Duboeuf cabernet sauvignon, or a non alcoholic beverage. We chose the cabernet sauvignon to complement our boeuf bourguignon.
Desserts
All desserts can be ordered either a la carte or as part of the prix fixe meal.
Gateau Opera – $14.95
The classic opera sponge cake includes coffee sponge, coffee whipped cream, chocolate ganache, and vanilla ice cream.
Assiette de Sorbets du jour – $13.95
The seasonal sorbet we enjoyed had strawberry, raspberry, and mango flavors, and came with fresh fruits and a lemon madeleine.
For our prix fixe meal we combined the salmon tartare appetizer, boeuf bourguignon entrée, glass of cabernet sauvignon, and gateau opera. A la carte these items would have cost over $75, so we definitely saved a bit of money doing the prix fixe menu.
