DVC Shop’s Friday For Foodies is an exploration of dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. The first series in this journey through Disney World’s food is called “Eating Around The World Showcase at EPCOT”. As part of this series, DVC Shop will dine at restaurants around the World Showcase in order to explore their food items and overall dining experience. This week’s featured dining location is Biergarten Restaurant!
Overview of Biergarten
Biergarten Restaurant is a sit-down buffet dining experience located in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT. On the buffet, you will find classic German dishes like bratwurst, pork schnitzel, spatzel, and cheese and beer soup. While you enjoy these dishes a live band plays polka music. This makes for a very lively dining experience!
Food & Drink Items We Tried
Because Biergarten is a buffet, we tried almost everything. Read on for some highlights of the food items we tried!
Macaroni and Cheese
This classic side dish pairs well with the meat offerings found at Biergarten, such as Roasted Chicken and Pot Roast. You will find it in the hot section of the buffet.
Sauerbraten and Herb Spatzel
Sauerbraten is a traditional German marinated meat dish. We found it was delicious when eaten with the Herb Spatzel which is a German egg noodle.
Meatballs and Red Wine Sauce
We also tasted the meatballs in red wine sauce which is also from the hot section of the buffet.
Beer and Cheese Soup
The Beer and Cheese soup is one of Biergarten’s most well-known food items. It is served with warm pretzel rolls!
Potato Pancakes
Potato pancakes are another classic German dish in the warm section of the buffet! There are toppings available for them as well!
Roasted Potatoes and Sauerkraut
We also tried the roasted potatoes and sauerkraut. These were great additions to the other offerings we tried!
Bavarian Cheesecake
When it came time for dessert, we tried most of the offerings. We enjoyed the Bavarian Cheesecake which is lighter than a standard cheesecake.
Black Forest Cake
We also tried the Black Forest Cake! This is a rich chocolate and fruit cake dessert.
