EPCOT’s DiveQuest Experience Returns May 1st with Enhancements

DiveQuest Epcot

EPCOT’s popular scuba diving program, DiveQuest, is set to return on May 1st following a temporary hiatus for updates at The Seas Pavilion. This educational and immersive experience offers certified divers unique access to Disney’s 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium, home to over 2,000 marine animals. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or simply curious about what this program entails, this article will outline all the relevant details.

What to Know About the Resumption of DiveQuest

After a period of construction at The Seas Pavilion, which began in late 2024 and led to the temporary removal of certain marine animals and activities, Disney is reintroducing the EPCOT Seas Adventures – DiveQuest experience. Designed for certified scuba divers, this program allows guests to explore the aquarium in a controlled environment, with a special focus on marine life observation and underwater exploration.

DiveQuest is scheduled to take place from Thursday to Monday each week, with tickets priced between $229 and $249 per person. Discounts are available for Annual Passholders and other eligible guest groups. Each session lasts for about two hours, with approximately 40 minutes spent under the water.

What to Expect From the Experience

The DiveQuest program begins with a behind-the-scenes tour of The Seas Pavilion, offering guests an educational look at the operations behind its massive marine habitat. Divers can expect to swim among a variety of species, including sea turtles, stingrays, reef fish, and even sharks. The aquarium’s still waters and clear visibility make for an exceptional, up-close viewing experience.

It is important to note that participants must hold an Open Water SCUBA certification and meet health and safety requirements. All necessary equipment, including wetsuits and oxygen tanks, is provided. However, guests are welcome to bring their own masks if they prefer. Personal devices such as cameras or phones are prohibited during the tour and in the water.

Important Information for Participants

For those planning to join, reservations are strongly recommended. Bookings can be made online or through the My Disney Experience app. While same-day reservations may be available, they are limited and not guaranteed.

Friends and family who accompany a participant can view parts of the experience through the aquarium’s acrylic windows at The Seas with Nemo & Friends attraction. Viewing areas are located upstairs, providing a direct look into the underwater adventure. All visitors, however, must hold valid EPCOT admission and park reservations for the same day to access these areas.

Participants are advised to arrive at Guest Relations at EPCOT’s main entrance at least 15 minutes before their scheduled session. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies, and full charges will incur for late cancellations or no-shows.

Accessibility and Safety Guidelines

DiveQuest is available to guests aged 10 and up, with minors requiring an accompanying adult. Disney has worked to ensure accessibility for participants, allowing mobility-impaired individuals to transfer from electric scooters or wheelchairs to the water. Safety is a priority, and those with certain medical conditions should consult with a healthcare provider before booking.

Additionally, divers can make use of provided locker rooms, which include free access to towels, shampoo, and other necessities. Jewelry and other personal items, apart from a watch, are restricted during the experience to maintain safety and protect the marine habitat.

Plan Your Visit

With the return of EPCOT’s DiveQuest, guests have another opportunity to engage with Disney’s educational offerings while enjoying a one-of-a-kind underwater experience. This program provides a balance of fun and learning for those interested in marine life and conservation.

Be sure to check availability and make your reservations early, as spots for this popular program tend to fill quickly. Whether you’re a local Annual Passholder or planning a vacation to Walt Disney World, DiveQuest offers a memorable way to explore the magic of EPCOT.
