We took our first Walt Disney World trip as DVC members in June of 2018. The Parks were hot and crowded. We are usually not the type to take our WDW vacations during the summer months but since we purchased a resale contract we had banked points from the previous owner that needed to be used so a June WDW trip it was.
I am a mother of 5 children.
No matter if you have 1 child or 10 you know that the word “ hanger” is a real. We were taking a break from the heat and enjoying Finding Nemo – The musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when I remembered seeing a feature on the My Disney Experience App called Mobile Ordering. Towards the end of the show I quietly opened my phone and began searching for the mobile ordering section of the app. I was surprised how easy the feature was to use. Within seconds I had a list of all participating quick service restaurants categorized by Park

We were in Dino Land so I selected Restaurantosaurus. From there I easily created our order. It was so quick and straightforward. Once your order is complete your on file credit card is charged and your order is complete. You are then prompted to submit the order to be prepared when you arrive. Since we had 5 hot and hungry kids in tow I submitted the order as soon as the Nemo Musical ended.
When we arrived at the restaurant the walk up order line was extremely long. I’m talking out of the door and onto the sidewalk. We walked in and found a table. As soon as everyone was seated I got a notification our order was ready. I proceeded to find the mobile order pick up window where I was greeted by a cast member who confirmed the order was indeed mine. I was surprised to see only my order in the window. I could not believe people were standing outside in line to order when there is a mobile ordering feature at their fingertips. I specifically remember all 7 of us eating, cleaning up our table and exiting the restaurant before the family next to us was able to order their food. That is the day the Mobile Ordering app became my favorite feature of the My Disney Experience app.
We have continued to use the Mobile Ordering feature during our trips and I was thrilled to see Disney has now added select quick service Resort locations to the app, one being our home resort Animal Kingdom Villas, YES!!!!!!
So next time you are visiting Walt Disney World do not forget to use this amazing time saving feature. You will not be disappointed and your days of walk up ordering will be a thing of the past.
