Disney To Halt Transfers In December: A Regular Annual Occurrence

Goofy DVC Sign Near Disney's Boardwalk

Disney has recently announced that it will not be working on any transfers or accepting files needed for closings from December 5th through December 17th. This notice is a routine one, as Disney traditionally halts these activities during this period every year, often during to the annual condo association meeting. This year’s DVC condo association meeting will be taking place on December 7th, with registration for DVC members open now.

Understanding The Closure

Starting

December 7th

Ending

December 17th

Disney’s decision to stop working on transfers and accepting closing files during the said period is due to their annual meeting time. This is a time when key stakeholders of the company convene to discuss the company’s strategic direction, performance review, and future plans.

It’s an important phase of the company’s operations, and thus, they halt some activities to ensure full attention and resources are directed towards these discussions.

What Does The Closure Mean For Clients?

During this period, brokers will not be able to receive transfer updates or provide any closing documents with Disney. This means that all such operations will need to be either completed before December 5th or postponed until after December 17th.

Planning Ahead

For those who are in the middle of a DVC transfer, try to complete all necessary documents and turn in any documents needed as early as possibly before December 5th. It is possible that some transfers and closings could be affected by this closure, leading to a longer transfer time.

Transfer Services Resume December 17th

After the meeting concludes on December 17th, normal operations will resume. All pending transfers and file closures will be processed as per the standard procedures.

Wrapping Up

Disney’s announcement about its annual closure is nothing out of the ordinary. It’s a regular part of their operational cycle, designed to ensure smooth functioning and strategic planning. While it may cause temporary inconveniences for some clients, understanding the reason behind this move and planning accordingly can help mitigate any potential issues.

DVC Shop appreciates its clients’ understanding and cooperation during this period and looks forward to helping our clients create countless memories that they and their family will treasure forever!
