Disney Lakeshore Lodge, the newest Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort, is steadily taking shape near Bay Lake. This highly anticipated property is set to offer a blend of modern amenities and natural inspiration, continuing Disney’s tradition of creating immersive vacation experiences. In this article, we’ll provide an update on the construction progress, highlight key features of the resort, and discuss what guests can expect when it opens in 2027.

Aerial Views and Structural Updates

Recent aerial photos reveal significant progress on the resort’s three main wings and central courtyard. Construction crews are actively working on framing, sheathing, and adding water barriers to the building’s exterior. The courtyard area appears to be undergoing early groundwork, potentially for a feature pool that will serve as a focal point for guests.

Roofing and Exterior Work

Roofing supports and scaffolding are visible across multiple sections of the resort. Some areas have begun to receive glass windows and sliding doors, while others are still in the early stages of structural framing. These updates suggest that the resort is moving closer to its final form.

Dock and Lakefront Features

A crane on a floating barge is constructing a new dock near the resort, which will likely provide guests with convenient access to Bay Lake. Additionally, a steel structure near the shore hints at the possibility of a future lakefront bar or restaurant, enhancing the resort’s recreational offerings.

Design and Amenities

Inspired by Nature

Reflections Concept Art

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is designed to reflect the beauty of nature, drawing inspiration from Disney artists’ interpretations of the natural world. While no new concept art has been released, the construction progress closely resembles the original plans for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, which was previously planned for the same site.

Guest Accommodations

The resort will feature a variety of accommodations, including rooms with balconies and sliding glass doors that offer views of the surrounding lake and forest. These design elements aim to create a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors.

Recreational Spaces

In addition to the feature pool, the resort is expected to include multiple recreational areas, such as walking paths, outdoor seating, and possibly themed dining options. The inclusion of A-frame cabins, originally part of the Reflections design, adds a unique touch to the property.

The site of Disney Lakeshore Lodge was previously home to River Country, Disney’s first water park, which closed in 2001. After years of dormancy, the area was cleared to make way for a new DVC resort. Construction was initially delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed in late 2024 with the announcement of the Lakeshore Lodge project.

Conclusion

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is shaping up to be a stunning addition to the Disney Vacation Club portfolio. With its focus on natural inspiration, modern amenities, and convenient access to Bay Lake, the resort promises to offer a unique and relaxing experience for DVC members and guests. As construction progresses, we look forward to seeing how this new property will enhance the Disney vacation experience.
