Downtown Disney Closures: What Can You Expect To Be Open

Downtown Disney - Disneyland Resort - 9/3/19 (Joshua Sudock/Disneyland Resort)

The new stay-at-home order has begun in Orange County and Anaheim. As always, Disney’s priority is safety and now, due to the new rules, there will be some closures in Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street. Along with closures of certain restaurants, all dining will revert back to the previous take-out and delivery only rule. These new rules are in effect as of December 7.

The restaurants that will be closed are those that do not offer takeout. Guests who had previously made reservations will be cancelled with no fee.

In Downtown Disney the restaurants that are temporarily closing include:

  • Asian Street Eats
  • Black Tap CrazyShake take-out window
  • Catal
  • La Brea Bakery & Cafe
  • La Brea Bakery & Cafe Express
  • Naples Ristorante e Bar
  • Napolini Pizzeria
  • Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen
  • Splitzville Luxury Lanes
  • Starbucks (both locations)
  • Tortilla Jo’s
  • Tortilla Jo’s Taqueria
  • Uva Bar & Cafe

In the recently open Buena Vista Street, the restaurants that will be closed include:

  • Award Wieners
  • Carthay Circle Lounge
  • Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe
  • Smokejumpers Grill

At this time Trolly Treats will be the only food site to remain open in Buena Vista Street.

Although no food or drink will be allowed to be consumed on the property, the good news is that guests will still be able to get some of their favorite Disney treats to take home. The following locations in the Downtown Disney District will remain open.

  • Ballast Point Brewing
  • Black Tap Burgers & Shakes
  • Earl of Sandwich
  • Jamba
  • Marceline’s Confectionary
  • Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express
  • Salt & Straw
  • Sprinkles
  • Wetzel’s Pretzels

Disney also made the unfortunate announcement that the reopening of the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa would be postponed and not happening this weekend as originally planned.

Luckily, shopping will still be available to visitors. Retail stores such as Elias & Co. and World Of Disney will remain open with a reduced 20% capacity or less, per the order guidelines. Downtown Disney is also planning on adding additional retail locations very soon, possibly within a few weeks.

Disney is always quick to comply with the mandated safety rules and also quick to create innovative, fun new ways to provide guests with an incredible Disney experience. We will have to wait and see what they do next for their guests.

What do you think are the best Disney treats to take home? Which shopping location would you like to see open up again? Let us know below in the comments.
