Disney World Transportation Update: Late 2020

Disney World transportation update late 2020

Whenever it’s time to travel to Walt Disney World, it’s always best to plan how to get to the parks as early as possible. Planning can start with something as simple as transportation. Luckily for you when vacationing at Walt Disney World, there are plenty of options to get you to the park right on time. Here’s what you need to know for your Disney World transportation update for late 2020.

Buses

Things are forever changing and there’s always progress at The Walt Disney World Resort and that includes their transportation. Something that is consistent is the complimentary service of The Magical Express, which is the resort’s free transportation to and from the airport. This service allows 6-8 families per bus ride. This is the same protocol for transportation to the theme park on the buses. It’s recommended to get to the bus station 30 minutes prior to when you need to arrive at your destination. Two or three buses are usually behind each other to go to the same location to reduce the waiting.

Skyliner

Walt Disney World’s newest form of transportation, the skyliner is still in operation. This is a wonderful and convenient transportation gondola that offers a gorgeous view of the resort and the upcoming attractions. If you travel on the Skyliner you can even catch a peak of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure coming soon to Walt Disney World’s EPCOT. Each party, due to social distancing, will get their very own gondola. You’re in luck if you are staying at Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Riviera Resort as the Skyliner is right outside your hotel room door. For the ride to EPCOT, the Skyliner opens 30 minutes prior to park open. If you’re traveling to Hollywood Studios, transportation starts 1 hour prior to the park opening.

Monorails

There are some big changes currently with the monorails to keep in mind if you’re trying to get to Epcot. Currently the monorail’s EPCOT line is not in operation so you will want to take the bus or Skyliner depending on what park or resort you’re traveling from.

Resort guests staying at The Poynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary can still use the monorail to get into the Magic Kingdom. Additionally if you park at the Transportation and Ticket Center or travel from the previously listed resorts, you can take the monorail to get to any of the dining options at the resorts even if Magic Kingdom is not yet open. This is a perfect option for early morning breakfast reservations.

Watercraft

Another way of traveling to Magic Kingdom is by boat. This is another great way to see the beauty of the resorts in an experience that’s fun for the whole family. Sometimes while on the boats guests will see a beautiful view of Cinderella’s Castle with the new Holiday light projections, even from afar. The watercrafts offer a spacious outdoor way to get to the parks with your family from the resorts or the Transportation and Ticket Center.
