Named “The Perch,” this new addition is set to debut on November 10, 2025, offering a new social space for guests and Disney Vacation Club members. The bar is a key component of the lobby’s comprehensive redesign, which has been underway since April 2025, aiming to modernize the resort’s iconic Victorian elegance.
A New Centerpiece for the Grand Floridian Lobby
“The Perch” is thoughtfully named, as it occupies the lobby space that for many years housed a large, decorative birdcage, a memorable feature for long-time visitors. The new bar aims to become the new focal point of the grand atrium, providing a sophisticated spot for guests to relax and enjoy a drink amidst the ambiance of the resort. Its design is expected to complement the updated aesthetic of the lobby, which has seen significant changes over the past several months.
This opening marks a significant point in the resort’s ongoing transformation. Guests have already seen updates to the front desk, new carpeting, and refreshed finishes on the grand staircase and elevators. The introduction of “The Perch” adds a functional and elegant gathering space to the heart of the resort.
The Broader Resort Refurbishment
The opening of “The Perch” is part of a much larger renovation project at the Grand Floridian. Work has been progressing steadily since April, with the goal of refreshing the entire resort, including the Disney Vacation Club villas. While the debut of the new bar is a major step forward, it is not yet clear if November 10 will mark the complete conclusion of all construction at the resort.
Other areas have also been part of this project. The former home of the Garden View Tea Room has been undergoing changes, with reports suggesting that a similar tea service is planned to return in the future. Disney has also confirmed that due to the extensive lobby work, the beloved life-sized gingerbread house display will not be installed for the 2025 holiday season, a notable but temporary change for the resort’s festive traditions.
