The Screen Door General Store at Disney’s BoardWalk has completed its refurbishment, offering guests an updated and refreshed shopping space. Located along the resort’s charming boardwalk, the store combines multiple themed sections, including Thimbles & Threads and Disney’s Character Carnival, into one cohesive shopping destination.
Key Updates to Layout and Design
The store’s interior now features light wood paneling and neutral tiles, replacing the mix of patterned carpet and dark wood flooring. Walls have been painted a soft sea green, and previously dark beams have been brightened with white paint, creating a more open and airy environment. Check-out counters were redesigned to maximize floor space, with smaller, pastel-colored counters adding both function and style. Gold and green accents subtly enhance the new aesthetic.
Merchandise Displays and Thematic Details
Merchandise displays throughout the store have been updated with lighter finishes and thematic additions. Small touches, like jars of real thimbles and threads and displays of colorful spools arranged to represent Disney characters, add engaging details for shoppers. Artwork featuring Mickey and Friends complements the store’s theme, showing scenes of classic Disney characters enjoying boardwalk activities.
Thimbles & Threads Reopens
The final phase of the refurbishment was the reopening of the Thimbles & Threads section, located at the end of the store. This area continues to offer a selection of clothing and accessories in an inviting space, seamlessly blending into the overall updates.
