We recently shared on our blog that Disney changed the names of certain view types on the 2026 DVC points charts, which has caused a bit of speculation in the DVC community. When news of these updates emerged, some DVC members were concerned about a potential reclassification of villa categories that could impact which rooms are assigned for future reservations.
Well, today we have our answer directly from Disney themselves!
Statement From Disney Vacation Club
A recent email from Disney, sent to DVC members, explained that the changes in room type names are simply name changes which are aimed at providing clarity for guests when booking their stays. The goal is to simplify the reservation process by using descriptive names for different room types and their associated views.
Importantly, as emphasized in the email, these changes are limited to just name updates. The actual rooms associated with each view type, as well as all existing booking will remain exactly the same. Members and renters should rest reassured they will still receive the exact same room type they originally reserved.
What Members Need to Know
For members planning their upcoming stays, there are a few key points to keep in mind regarding this change:
- No Impact on Your Booking – If you’ve already made a reservation, the updated room name will automatically appear in your account or reservation details. However, the room itself, including all its view, features and amenities, will remain the same.
- No Member Action Needed – Disney made it clear in their email that there’s no action required on the part of members. The changes are fully automated and will not disrupt existing reservations.
- Streamlined Selection for the Future – As the updated room type names roll out across platforms, members and guests may find it easier to understand what each category offers when browsing availability.
Final Thoughts
The updates to DVC villa room type names reflect a minor but potentially helpful improvement to the booking experience. While some members worried these changes could affect the classification or points associated with different room types, Disney has confirmed this is not the case. Members can proceed with their reservations confidently, knowing no modifications have been made to the actual rooms or their associated categories.
