The news is official, Disney will no longer require face masks for vaccinated guests! Beginning February 17th, 2022 face masks will be optional in both indoor and outdoor locations. Guests will soon be able to smile bright for the many indoor character meet and greets that have recently returned, take unmasked selfies on their favorite attractions, and not have to worry about fumbling for a mask when entering dining locations. The new mask policy will apply to both Walt Disney World Resort as well as Disneyland Resort.
New Face Covering Policy for All Guests (Ages 2 and Up)
Fully Vaccinated Guests | Guests Not Fully Vaccinated | |
---|---|---|
All indoor locations, including restaurants, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary | Optional | ✓ |
All enclosed transportation, including buses monorails, and Disney Skyliner | ✓ | ✓ |
All outdoor areas, including outdoor attractions, outdoor queues, and outdoor theaters | Optional | Optional |
Disney will still require guests to wear face coverings indoors through February 16th, 2022. In addition, Disney will also continue to require masks for guests ages 2 and up on enclosed Disney transportation regardless of vaccination status. This includes Disney buses, monorails, and Disney’s Skyliner.
Face Covering Requirements for Disney Transportation / Non-Vaccinated Guests
These face coverings will need to be:
- Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
- Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
- Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
- Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the guest to remain hands-free.
Proof of Vaccination Status Procedures
If past procedures are staying the same, Disney will be sticking to the honor system with the new mask policy and will not be requiring guests to show proof of their vaccination status. However, Disney asks that guests who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 continue to wear their face coverings while indoors.
