Come one, come all, Fall time fun is returning to Disneyland Resort this year! Holidays in the Disney parks have always been cause for major celebrations, from new treats and decor to holiday ride overlays. Last year due to the shut down, Disneyland Resort was not able to give that magic to guests, but this year they will be making up for lost time.
Disneyland Park
Festive Decorations
From the iconic Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern and the carved pumpkins of the Main Street Pumpkin Festival, Disneyland Park will be in the full Halloween swing. Disney characters will be throughout the park in their spookily fun get ups for guests to see and take photos of.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
The Haunted Mansion Holiday is a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay that Halloween and Disney fans alike have come to expect and truly love. According to Disney, Jack Skellington and all the his Nightmare pals will be on deck to wish guests “Season’s Screamings!”
There had previously been speculation as to whether or not this seasonal attraction would be returning this year. The Disneyland mobile app had shown that the Haunted Mansion would be closed from August 16 to September 2 for refurbishments, but it did not say anything else about what that refurbishment could be at the time. Now the Disneyland app shows that the the Haunted Mansion Holiday is also scheduled to be under refurbishment in that time frame and will be ready to open with the rest of the festivities.
Halloween Screams
Halloween Screams will have two parts to it. Throughout the weeks projections will give Sleeping Beauty’s Castle a whole new spooktacular look, including a special effects show. However, the castle will truly come alive on the weekends, when the Halloween Screams will be enhanced with a fireworks display.
Disney California Adventure
Plaza de La Familia
Plaza de La Familia will take place in Paradise Gardens from September 3 to November 2. This celebration is inspired by Dia de los Muertos and will include an homage to Disney’s movie “Coco”.
Guests will enjoy live entertainment such as a street show titled “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” and Mariachi music at Paradise Gardens Bandstand. Guests will also be able to enjoy delicious festival food while they enjoy The World of Coco art exhibit, and photo opportunities with a Miguel marionette, the Arbol de la Vida (Tree of Life), and a memory wall.
Radiator Screams
Beloved Radiator Springs will be transformed into Radiator Screams, where they attractions have gotten a lot spookier. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will turn into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, while Luigi’s Rolickin’ Roadsters will change into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark
Guardians of the Galaxy will get an eerie update this Halloween season. Terrifying monsters will be greeting guests before they fall to their fate – of fun!
Buena Vista Street Transformations
Mickey and Friends will be seen all dressed up in their Halloween costumes strolling along a creepily and fun decorated Buena Vista Street. Guests will also be able to take a photo with the 10 foot tall Headless Horseman who will be leading the charge with his jack-o-lantern head in the sky.
Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party
One of the all time fan favorite events in Disneyland for the Fall season has to be the Oogie Boogie Bash. This limited-capacity, after-hours event will take place on 25 nights, beginning September 9 through October 31.
Guests of all ages will be able to dress up in their Halloween costumes and trick or treat throughout the park. Guests who attend this event will also be able to experience “immersive treat trails”, “Frightfully Fun Parade”, Villian’s Grove at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, and “Mickey’s Trick & Treat”.
Tickets will go on sale for this event on Tuesday, July 13, no earlier than 9 AM. They can be purchased at Disneyland.com/oogieboogiebash.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Disney has added a new festivity to the mix this year, in the form of Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit. Guests will get to enjoy their Fall themed Disney treats while wandering through a decorated Downtown Disney District to participate in this game. More details are sure to come soon on this event so stay tuned on the DVC Shop blog for new information later on.
8 Weeks To Go
We have less than 8 weeks left to go until Disney wows us once again with all of the Fall time Fun in Disneyland and California Adventure. Holidays are always a highlight of Disney, and Halloween is no different. Disney definitely brings the magic and the fun in a spooky, family friendly way, and we can not wait to see what is in store this year.
