Mears Transportation has committed to replace the Magical Express in 2022. The new service, being called “Mears Connect”, will offer transportation and other amenities to future guests of the Florida theme parks.
Disney’s Magical Express provides guests with complimentary transportation from the Orlando airport to Disney Vacation Club resorts and theme parks. When it was announced that Disney’s Magical Express was being terminated, guests were left wondering if there would be a replacement.
Disney previously stated that the termination is due to the increased usage of rideshare services, as well as the construction of the high speed rail that is currently underway. This high speed railway is projected to travel from the airport to various Disney locations and more.
At the time of Disney’s announcement, Mears Transportation had declared that they were “to continue offering transportation services between the airport and all area theme parks and hotels to meet the demand of our visitors now and in the future.” This is what has led to the new service “Mears Connect”.
The Magical express is set to end on January 1, 2022, and Mears Connect will begin operating in January 2022, although no official date has been released. Mears Connect will begin taking reservations starting May 21.
When it begins operating, Mears Connect will provide transportation on high occupancy vehicles while also offering luggage service. The transportation service will be on a schedule and will also include return trips to the airport for guests’ convenience. All pricing information for these services will be released later this year.
Mears Connect promises to maintain excellent service for those who choose to use their service in a released statement saying:
“We plan to offer the same level of experience, service, and convenience we’ve provided for the last 16 years, on behalf of our longtime partner, as returning guests and first-time visitors can expect nothing less. It is important for visitors to know they still have many of the same safe transportation options for their Orlando visit, all offered by the same company who has been providing seamless, economical, and hassle-free transportation for decades.”
