Why You Should Visit Disney World With Your Kids This Winter

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration Elsa

Disney World is a magical place to vacation no matter what the time of year, but there are many reasons to visit Disney World during the winter. Vacations during the summer might be more convenient for most families, but making a vacation work during the winter can truly make for a great visit for you and your children. If you are planning on taking a vacation to Disney World this year with your children, then continue reading to learn all about why taking them in the winter is a fantastic option.

Cooler Weather

Taking your children to Florida during the summer, fall, and even the spring, can mean extreme heat and high temperatures. This can be hard on kids, especially those who are prone to overheating like babies and toddlers. Winter in Florida is typically quite mild, with lower temperatures in the 70s. When the temperature is lower during the day you are able to spend more time in the parks with your kids and less time finding places to cool off. The mild weather in the winter truly does make for a better experience for little ones.

Holiday Decorations

When visiting during the months of November and December, you are treated to the sight of Disney’s holiday decorations. Even if you aren’t participating in an extra ticketed event, you can still see the holiday decor throughout all parks and resorts. Christmas trees, garland, and sparkling lights are everywhere, and the festive atmosphere is high. Perfect for taking your holiday photos with your family.

Holiday Parties and Seasonal Treats

If you’re traveling during November and December then you have the opportunity to experience special extra ticketed events like the Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party celebrations. Located in Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom, these events contain special character appearances, shows, and seasonal treats. These parties are fun, special, and only available during the winter and holiday seasons!

The Perfect Time to Take a Break

When winter begins and the cold and chilly air sets in, it can be quite easy to become antsy and ready for a vacation. Winter is the perfect time to take a break, from both the weather, and the stress of the upcoming holiday season. School winter break is also a great time to escape because it’s between semesters, and your kids are well into the school year and ready to relax. Some guests say they prefer winter vacations to summer vacations because of the escape that they offer.

Lower Crowds in Late Winter

If you choose to travel during late winter after the holiday season has concluded, then you have the opportunity to visit during a time of lower crowds. While there is no true “off season” for Disney World anymore, there are still typically lower crowds during late January and February.
