If you have been hoping to catch the animated short with Mickey and Minnie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there is good news. Vacation Fun is set to return after a six-week break. Here is what led to the closure, when the show comes back, and what you can expect once the theater lights come back up.
When Vacation Fun Reopens
Vacation Fun, the original animated short starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, will reopen on September 27. Show hours are listed again beginning that day, which points to the short returning to its regular schedule at the Mickey Shorts Theater.
Why the Theater Closed
Showings paused in early August so the Mickey Shorts Theater could take on a different role for a few weeks. From August 11 to September 24, the theater served as the distribution spot for the Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet. With that event wrapping up, the space returns to its usual purpose of screening the short film.
A Familiar Pattern for the Theater
This is not the first time the Mickey Shorts Theater has stepped in for a special event. Earlier in the year, Vacation Fun closed during April and May so the theater could host the May the 4th merchandise event. In both cases, the short paused temporarily and then returned once the event finished. It is a reminder that the space occasionally pulls double duty during busier merchandise and passholder events.
Final Thoughts
With Vacation Fun returning on September 27, the Mickey Shorts Theater goes back to what it does best after a stretch of passholder magnet distribution. If you are planning a trip in late September or beyond, you can once again fit this short into your Hollywood Studios itinerary.
Keep the reopening date in mind as you map out your park day, and you will be ready to catch Mickey and Minnie on the big screen.
