Disney Vacation Club has updated the names of two pools planned for Disney Lakeshore Lodge, the resort’s next Walt Disney World property. The changes are small on paper, but they give us another look at how the pool area is shaping up. Here is what changed and how each pool fits into the wider water complex.
What Changed With the Pool Names
Two pools at Lakeshore Lodge now carry different names than the ones Disney first shared. The zero-entry feature pool at the center of the complex, first announced as Lakeside Lagoon, is now called Lakeshore Lagoon. The leisure pool and whirlpool spa on the other side of the resort, first announced as Perspective Pond, is now called Cypress Point.
Disney made these updates without a formal announcement, and the company has not explained the reasoning behind either change. Everything else in the pool area appears to keep its original name and layout, so these two swaps are the only adjustments so far.
A Closer Look at Lakeshore Lagoon
Lakeshore Lagoon sits at the heart of the pool area and serves as the main feature pool. It has a zero-entry design, which means the pool floor slopes gradually from the deck into the water, similar to walking into a beach. That setup works well for families with young children and for guests who prefer to ease into the water.
A spiral waterslide leads into the pool, giving the space a clear focal point and a bit of activity for swimmers of all ages. As the central gathering spot, this is where much of the daytime energy at the resort is likely to be.
What Cypress Point Offers
Cypress Point takes a quieter approach. Positioned on the opposite side of the resort, it features a leisure pool paired with a whirlpool spa. The location was chosen with evenings in mind, since the area is set up for views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
For guests who want a calmer spot away from the main pool, Cypress Point offers a retreat with a different pace. Having two distinct pools gives visitors options depending on whether they want activity or relaxation.
The Wetlands Theme and Layout
Both pools sit within The Wetlands, the larger pool and lazy river complex Disney revealed for the resort. The area draws its theme from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas, using the film’s natural setting as inspiration for the landscaping and design.
Guests walking between Lakeshore Lagoon and Cypress Point will follow a scenic path lined with facts about the local plants and animals. That path also includes a River Country plaque, a nod to the former water park that once operated in this part of Walt Disney World. Small touches like these help tie the space to both the film theme and the resort’s location.
Other Features in the Complex
The Wetlands includes more than just the two pools. Families will find several additional areas built with younger guests in mind.
- Heron Shores, a dry play area with climbing features
- Otter Springs, a water play area with interactive splash elements
- Daydream River, a lazy river that winds through the pool and play spaces
Together, these areas give the complex a range of activities, from active play to a slow float around the resort.
