Traveling to Disney World can require a lot of planning, with some guests choosing to plan their vacations many months to years in advance. There are many advantages to planning ahead including selecting dining reservations 60 days in advance of your stay, and snagging a room for the resort of your choice. However, not every Disney vacation must be planned out months or even weeks ahead of time. It is still possible to take spontaneous trips to Disney World, even if that means adjusting some of your expectations of the trip. So, if you feel like traveling to Disney World on a whim here are a few tips for you to make it as magical as possible.
Rent DVC
It can be difficult to obtain Disney resort reservations at the last minute. But when renting DVC from websites like DVC Shop, you can snag last minute deals on deluxe DVC resorts. Staying DVC gives you access to luxury resorts like Disney’s Grand Floridian and Disney’s Riviera Resort. DVC resorts that are along the Skyliner route or the monorail line give you a great advantage during your last minute trip by giving you quick and easy access to the Disney parks.

Check for Dining Cancellations
While the best way to guarantee dining reservations is to make them 60 days prior to the first day of your stay, it is still possible to get lucky at the last minute and snag great reservations. Cancellations happen all the time, so keep refreshing your app and you might be surprised at what you find. Remember that even if you are unable to get dining reservations there are still several quick-service restaurants that serve great food with no reservations required.

Get Park Hoppers
When you are traveling to Disney on a whim you might not have definite plans on which parks you’d like to attend. In order to make the most of your time it is highly recommended that you purchase Park Hoppers. Park Hoppers give you the flexibility to visit any Disney park throughout the day. With Park Hoppers you aren’t limited to staying at one park for the entire day. Park Hoppers allow you to be more flexible when making dining reservations as well, because you have the ability to travel to any park for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Purchase Memory Maker
Your vacation being spontaneous doesn’t make it so you can’t capture memories that will last a lifetime. Memory Maker is a great option to add to your last minute vacation because it allows you to download all of your Disney Photopass photos, as well as on-ride photos. Be sure to make plenty of stop at various Photopass sites in order to make the most of your Memory Maker package.

Check For Updated Showtimes, Park Hours, and Other Information Before You Leave
Showtimes, park hours, and various park information is subject to change at any time. Prior to leaving for your trip, be sure to check the Disney app and Disney’s website for updated information. Examples of things to double check are Festival of Fantasy parade times, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire performances times, and character meet and greet times.
