Tips for Doing Disney With Preschoolers

Disney World is a magical vacation destination for families, and especially for those who have preschool-aged children. When kids are between the ages of 3 and 6 they are in that wonderful sweet spot of still being little, while being old enough to make memories that will last a lifetime. Preschool-aged children are truly a perfect age to enjoy the Disney parks. Even though your kiddos are getting older it can still be intimidating to travel with them. Luckily, Disney World makes it easy for families to be accommodated and enjoy their vacation. If you are taking preschoolers to Disney this year then continue reading for some of our best tips.

Stay on Property

Staying on Disney property is by far the biggest tip that we give to families with children. Not only do you have access to deluxe accommodations, themed properties, wonderful pools with waterslides, restaurants, and more, but you also have quick and easy transportation to and from the Disney parks. Whether you utilize the Disney buses, monorail, or Skyliner, transportation to and from the parks at your Disney resort is always free and always easy to use. This makes it super convenient for families to get back to their rooms after a long day, or even to take a midday break when the heat or the crowds get to be a little too much. By using websites like DVC Shop, you can score deluxe accommodations for a moderate price.

Arrive Early

When traveling with small kids it is very important to arrive at the parks as early as you can. This will allow you to explore the parks before the crowds arrive, take photos, and even hop in shorter lines for attractions. When I travel with my preschoolers I like to take family photos first so that we can get at least one good photo before the kids get tired or overwhelmed. Then, we go straight to Fantasyland to hit up their favorite rides like Dumbo, Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Use a Stroller

Even though your preschoolers might be good with walking long distances, we still suggest you bring or rent a stroller during your vacation. The Florida heat, crowds, and overstimulation can make it difficult for your child to keep up with the family. By having a stroller with you you can offer a break for your child, while also having something that will carry a snack bag or other essentials.

Enjoy Character Meals

Character meals like Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey’s, Topolino’s Terrace, Garden Grill, and more are the perfect way to allow your child to meet their favorite characters without having to wait in a line. The entire family gets to enjoy a meal while you wait for the character to come to your table and meet you. It’s a win for everyone!
