Things To Do in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Before They Close For Good

DINOSAUR

In my opinion, Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World is by far one of the most incredible theme parks I have ever visited. There is not an inch of this park that isn’t covered with immersive theming and has some of the most breathtaking views in any Disney Park. One of the most bittersweet moments for any Disney fan, is the announcement of new attractions. It’s exciting to watch new experiences get added, but a little sad to say goodbye to the ones that hold a special place in your heart. This feeling has recently taken a hold of me with the Blue Sky announcements of Indiana Jones and Encanto based attractions possibly replacing the beloved Dinoland USA. I want everyone to experience the attractions at least once, just so you don’t miss out on the memories they have to offer

It’s Tough to be a Bug!

This 3-D show about our friends from A Bugs Life has been terrorizing, I mean, entertaining guests since the Animal Kingdom opened in 1998 (7 months before the movie even released in theaters)! Inside the Tree of Life, Animal Kingdom’s park icon, is a … charming show that features Flik, putting on a show to show us humans to appreaciate what bugs do, because it’s not easy! If you do not like bugs, you still need to make time for this! The audience reactions are sometimes louder than the show itself, and that alone is worth a spot on your busy schedule. While a closing date has not been confirmed, Disney has announced that this show will be buzzing off soon to make room for a Zootopia 3-d show! The theatre inside the Tree of Life isn’t expected to change, but make sure you thank Flik and his friends for all their hard work before they take a bow one final time!

DINOSAUR

I didn’t know it was possible to get misty eyed while writing about a ride closing, but here we are! DINOSAUR, known when the park first opened as Countdown to Extinction, is another opening day attraction that will be going… well extinct. Dinosaur is a thrilling dark ride takes you back in time to mere moments before the asteroid that took out the dinosaurs touches down on Earth. If you’ve been on it before, you know it’s a real blast in the past! The ride has seen better days, but it doesn’t make it less sad to have to say farewell to Dr. Seeker and Dr. Marsh! Disney has stated their Blue Sky plans for this ride would be a new version of the Indiana Jones attraction found in Disneyland park. That ride is just as thrilling, in fact, is about the exact same track layout as our Dinosaur! It’s not confirmed to what this new experience will be like, but we can only hope it still has plenty of nods to one of my favorite Disney World attractions.

Dinoland USA

The land surrounding Dinosuar, is known as Dinoland USA, which has plenty to say goodbye to. Restaurantosaurus, the dino centric quick service, specializes in burgers, nuggets, and salads. The Boneyeard, an outdoor play place for young children filled with slides and even a mini dig site! The land is anchored by Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, themed to a roadside attraction run by dinosaurs, this addition to the park has already started closing things! Primeval Whirl, a coaster known for giving you the souvenir of whiplash, closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and never reopened. It has since been leveled, leaving a big fenced in gap in the area.

But if you still want to take part in the fun Chester and Hester have to offer, TriceraTop Sin, a Dumbo type ride, is still operating! It’s possible everyone’s favorite magical family will be moving in, as the Madrigal’s magical “Casita” is also seen in the Blue Sky concept art for this new addition to the park. The thought of an Encanto ride is so exciting, just make sure you keep your thoughts about Bruno to yourself. We don’t want to jinx anything!

Mateo has been in love with the Disney Parks for as long as he can remember. During his childhood he spent any free second talking about Walt Disney World and Disneyland to anybody who would listen. Not much has changed! During his free time you can find him either at Hollywood Studios or trying to convince his friends to go on another trip to Disneyland.
