At Walt Disney World Resort, change is a constant. The most recent transformation is taking place at the well-loved Fort Wilderness Cabins. As part of a major renovation project, these cabins are currently being taken apart and removed from the resort to make way for the addition of the new The Cabins at Fort Wilderness – A Disney Vacation Club Resort.
The Demolition Process
Previously, guests could enjoy a rustic retreat at these cabins nestled amidst the natural beauty of the resort. However, as of now, a handful of these structures have been removed from the resort. The area is fenced off, with heavy machinery visible on-site, indicating the ongoing work.
The Future Of Fort Wilderness
While it’s clear that the future holds a new vision for the Fort Wilderness cabins, many details about how they will be built and integrated into Disney Vacation Club remain unknown. As always, Disney aims to create magical and memorable experiences for its DVC members, and this transformation is expected to be no different.
For more than 50 years, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has offered guests the opportunity to explore nature with their loved ones while staying in the heart of Walt Disney World Resort. We’re excited to continue to build upon the resort’s rich legacy and elevate the cabin experience for our Members and all guests to enjoy for years to come.

This isn’t the first time Fort Wilderness has seen changes. Over the years, the resort has witnessed various transformations, including the addition of new dining options and recreational activities. But this is the first time the cabins themselves have undergone such a significant change.
Keep An Eye Out For Updates
Disney fans and guests should keep an eye on the DVC Shop blog for updates on the progress of this new DVC resort. While many of the specifics have not yet been revealed, we can know we can expect something exciting and innovative!

I would like to purchase one or two of the original cabins for nostalgic sake. Who could I contact to inquire about this?
