The Best Disney Attractions That Tell Stories



Haunted Mansion

Part of what keeps guests coming back to the Disney World parks is the fact that the attractions are so much more than just rides. Every attraction in the park, no matter how big or small it is, has an intricate story behind it. Disney Imagineers work to make the theming in the parks feel so intricate that the transition from place to place, and attraction to attraction, is seamless. The immersion is never broken. Some of guests’ favorite attractions are those that tell incredible stories. Next time you are at Disney World be sure to keep an eye out for these Disney attractions telling stories.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Located in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, this attraction showcases some incredible classic Disney Imagineering. The original Disneyland version of this attraction took Walt Disney’s incredible eye for detail and combined it with the Sherman Brothers’ ear for music. The result is an attraction that uses visual storytelling to its fullest potential. Guests float through various scenes featuring pirates. The animatronics during this attraction have been updated and are incredibly lifelike and really work to bring this story to life.

Haunted Mansion

Another Magic Kingdom attraction that tells a wonderful story is Haunted Mansion. Located in Liberty Square, this attraction features classic Disney Imagineering complete with special effects and illusions that bring the narrative to life. Guests are invited to explore a haunted mansion that is home to 999 “happy haunts”. But there is room for 1,000! Whether you are watching the seance scene, ballroom scene, or graveyard scene, the story will captivate you and the visual storytelling will have you coming back again and again.

Tower of Terror

Hollywood Studios is home to Tower of Terror, where guests enter their very own episode of the old television show: The Twilight Zone. Guests are invited to step aboard an elevator that mysteriously disappeared and sent people to another dimension. This ride is so much more than a simple drop tower ride. The story beings the moment you enter the queue and continues until the moment you leave the ride.

Spaceship Earth

EPCOT’s attraction located within its park icon is Spaceship Earth. This attraction educates and entertains as it tells the story of mankind, and our progress through time. This attraction uses narration as well as animatronic figures in order to take guests from the days of the cavemen, all the way to the age of the internet.

Expedition Everest

Located in Animal Kingdom, this roller coaster tells an unexpected story! Expedition Everest has an intricate story behind it, with tales of the legendary yeti monster terrorizing the mountain. As guests make their way through the queue they are treated to an “exhibit” that explains the history of the monster and builds suspense for guests as they embark on their journey to the mountain.
