Taking Pets To Disney: What You Need To Know

Pluto

Bringing your furry family member on a Disney World trip can be a wonderful experience, but it is one that takes careful planning. Disney World itself isn’t designed for pets inside the parks, but some Disney resorts do offer pet-friendly accommodations, services, and convenient options for keeping your pets with you during your trip. If you are a pet owner who isn’t comfortable leaving their furry friend behind, then there are some options for you at Disney World and select resorts. Continue reading to learn all you need to know when planning a trip to Disney World with your pet.

Dogs Only!

Sorry cats! Disney World only offers accommodations for dogs. All pet-friendly hotels that you see are only for dogs. All dogs must be vaccinated and remain on a leash at all times outside of the Disney resort room. There are currently only two dogs allowed per guest room.

Pet-Friendly Resorts and Rules

The following Disney Resorts are pet-friendly and allow dogs: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The only DVC resorts that allow dogs are The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Again, all dogs must remain leashed when outdoors, be fully vaccinated, and there are only 2 dogs allowed per guest room. Dogs are also not permitted to be in common areas like pools, restaurants, or other recreational spaces.

Service Animals, Not Emotional Support Animals

Disney does allow service animals to accompany guests inside the parks. Emotional support animals are not permitted to enter the parks. Service animals are animals that have been trained to perform a task or service for an individual with a disability. Service animals must be properly behaved and under full control of their owners at all times. There are designated relief areas throughout all 4 parks for service animals. Corrective action can be taken if the animal’s behavior is deemed to be inappropriate.

Best Friends Pet Hotel

Another option for your furry friends is the Best Friends Pet Hotel which is located on Disney property. This boarding service offers both overnight and daytime services. Cats and other small animals are welcome to reside at Best Friends Pet Hotel. Many services are offered here including daily walks, group playtime, suites with TVS and toys, and a staff that is well-trained in animal care and service.

Other Logistics to Consider

Guests who are traveling to Disney World with their pets should take certain things into consideration. Dogs, other than service animals, are not permitted on any form on Disney transportation. If you are bringing your dog with you to a resort you must find an alternate way to transport that animal without using the Disney bus, Skyliner, or monorail.
