Walt Disney World recently shared details regarding the updated Soarin Across America attraction at EPCOT. Before the ride opens to all guests, Disney cast members will have the opportunity to experience the journey firsthand. Cast Member Preview Dates and Registration
Eligible Walt Disney World cast members can register for upcoming preview flights starting on May 6. The preview events will take place on select dates throughout the month of May. Employees who register for a preview slot can bring up to three guests with them to experience the new film.
These preview periods give cast members a chance to see the attraction before it opens to regular day guests. Registration spots typically fill up quickly. Cast members should check their internal communication portals early on May 6 to secure a time slot for their group.
Public Opening and Ride Closure Schedule
To prepare the theater for the updated film, the current Soarin Around the World version will close to guests on May 14. Disney needs this downtime to finalize the transition and program the new ride sequences.
Following the cast member previews, Soarin Across America will officially open to the public at EPCOT on May 26. Visitors planning a late May vacation will be among the first regular guests to ride. West coast fans can also look forward to the attraction opening at Disney California Adventure a few weeks later on July 2.
New Features and Ride Experience
The new film celebrates the 250th birthday of the United States. Passengers will fly over natural wonders and recognizable cityscapes from across the country. Disney previously shared behind the scenes footage of camera crews filming over the Grand Canyon for this specific project.
The updated attraction also features an entirely original musical score. To complete the immersive experience, imagineers developed a fresh set of scents to match the various locations shown on screen.
