Grandt’s answer was direct. The attraction is designed to operate in the rain. That is welcome news for anyone who has watched storm clouds roll in during a summer visit and worried about losing ride time.
The Geyser Field Does Double Duty
Part of the reason Disney feels confident comes from the ride itself. Near the end of the course, guests race past a geyser field where water erupts like a fountain show as the vehicles speed by. That means the ride is already exposed to a steady amount of water during normal operation.
Grandt framed the geyser field as a kind of built-in test. If the vehicles can handle that much water on every lap, an afternoon shower should not cause any trouble. In other words, the ride was built with water in mind from the start, so rain fits right into the plan.
Ride Vehicles That React to the Terrain
