Walt Disney World Resort is set to host a significant and moving exhibit that pays tribute to the brave men and women who have served the United States. Beginning June 9, EPCOT’s American Adventure pavilion will feature “Portraits of Courage: A Commander’s Tribute to America’s Warriors,” an art exhibition from the George W. Bush Institute. This display will run for 12 months and includes over 60 portraits painted by President George W. Bush.
Exhibit Details
The “Portraits of Courage” exhibit brings together a collection of full-color portraits of service members and veterans who have served the nation with distinction since 9/11. These individuals were personally known to President Bush after his time in office. Each painting is accompanied by the veteran’s inspiring story, written by the President, detailing their experiences on the battlefield, their recovery journeys, and their continued contributions as civilians.
We are thrilled Portraits of Courage will be on display for EPCOT visitors to experience this year. My hope is that those who have the opportunity to see this special exhibit will also remember the leadership, service and sacrifice behind each of the heroes painted and the unique challenges our service members and their families face when transitioning out of the military.

This special exhibit aligns with The Walt Disney Company’s longstanding tradition of honoring military service. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, emphasized the company’s gratitude for the opportunity to share this unique collection with its guests. The exhibit not only celebrates the veterans’ service but also raises awareness about the challenges they and their families face upon returning to civilian life.
Supporting Veterans and Families
In addition to the portraits, the exhibit provides valuable resources for veterans and their families. One notable resource is “Check-In,” a tool designed to connect veterans and their families to no-cost, high-quality mental and brain health care. The presence of these resources underscores the exhibit’s broader mission to support and assist those who have served.
Disney’s Commitment to Veterans
The Walt Disney Company has a long history of supporting U.S. military service members. Since 2012, Disney has provided more than $20 million in funding and media support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to veterans and military families. Through initiatives like Heroes Work Here, which employs thousands of veterans, and special programs at their resorts, Disney continues to honor and celebrate the contributions of military families.
Conclusion
“Portraits of Courage: A Commander’s Tribute to America’s Warriors” is a profound and meaningful exhibit that visitors to EPCOT can experience starting June 9. This exhibit honors the bravery and sacrifices of American veterans and offers insights into their lives and challenges.
