In short, the answer is yes, members of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) are able to own more than one Home Resort. The ability to own points at multiple Home Resorts is just one of the great benefits of being a member, and can offer you greater flexibility when booking your vacations when done right. In this article, we’ll be walking you through the benefits and limitations of buying points at multiple Home Resorts. Let’s dive in!

Benefits Of Owning At Multiple Home Resorts

To understand the benefits of owning points at more than one home resort, we first have to make sure you understand how far in advance you can book your DVC points. Beginning at 11 months prior to your desired check-in date, you can book reservations at your home resort, or if your desired check-in date is within 7 months or less, you can begin booking at other DVC resorts.

Non-Home Resort Reservations 7-months prior to check-in

Booking During The 11-Month Booking Window

Many Disney Vacation Club members decide to own more than one Home Resort in order to take advantage of the 11-month booking priority period at each of the resorts they own. Owning points at each resort they wish to travel to gives them a 4-month “head-start” before the 7-month booking window allows other DVC members to book at that resort. This makes it easier for them to secure the resort, dates and accommodations that best meet their needs.

Owning multiple Home Resorts allows Disney Vacation Club members to reduce the potential of not being able to book their preferred resort during the 7-month booking window, skip using waitlists, and ultimately having to book an alternative reservation that does not meet their desired selection.

Booking During The 7-Month Booking Window

Also, once your desired check-in date is in 7 months or less, you can combine all of your DVC points to book at other locations in the Disney Vacation Club network of resorts.

Limitations Of Owning At Multiple Home Resorts

It’s important to note that when booking at the 11-month booking window, all the DVC points being used to make that reservation are required to be associated with the membership for that particular home resort. DVC members that own at multiple Home Resorts will not be able to combine points from multiple contracts to booking reservations during the Home Resort Priority Period.

Example

If a DVC member were to own 150 points at Disney’s Grand Floridian, and another 200 points at Disney’s Saratoga Springs, they would have to book a vacation with a check-in date that is within 7 months or less to use all 350 points for one reservation.

However, this owner can begin booking at Grand Floridian 11-months in advance using their 150 point contract, and can book at Saratoga Springs 11-months in advance using their 200 point contract.

Understanding Your Travel Patterns

Determining whether to own at multiple home resorts is a very personal decision, and should be determined on you and your family’s personal travel patterns. There really is no one-size-fits-all solution to which resort(s) to own or how many points to own. If there are multiple specific events you wish to attend at Walt Disney World each year, you may find owning at 2 home resorts fits your needs perfectly.

International Flower And Garden Festival at EPCOT

For example, if you want to attend the International Flower And Garden Festival at EPCOT staying at Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas can help to eliminate lengthy transportation times, and the worry about having to book it 7 months in advance.

Whereas if you also attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party each year, you may choose to own some additional points at one of the monorail resorts in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, like Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary.
