The Village Green at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is getting a refresh, and the most visible part of that work is now in place. New turf covers the courtyard, though the space stays closed to guests for a little longer. Here is a look at what is happening on the green, where the usual activities have moved, and what other projects are on the way at the resort.

New Turf Now Covers the Green

As of August 22, 2026, fresh turf covers the entire Village Green. Rolling planters currently block access to the space, but the new fake grass is easy to see past the flowerbeds. The turf is likely still being prepared for guests, and crews may also refresh the real plants in the surrounding area before the courtyard reopens.

This marks a clear step forward from earlier in the month. The old turf was removed within a few days of the closure, leaving the green bare while the work got underway. Seeing the new surface fully laid down suggests the project is moving along on schedule.

The Refurbishment Timeline

Closes

August 10, 2026

Reopens

September 4, 2026

The Village Green courtyard closed on August 10, 2026, and is scheduled to remain closed through September 4, 2026. That gives crews a window of a few weeks to remove the old turf, install the new surface, and handle any additional touch-ups.

For guests visiting during this stretch, the green will be walled off or blocked by planters. If you have a stay booked before early September, it is worth keeping the closure dates in mind so you are not surprised to find the courtyard unavailable.

Where the Activities Moved

The Village Green normally hosts a range of recreation activities, and those have been relocated during the refurbishment. Movie Under the Stars, yoga sessions, crafts, and other offerings have all moved to different spots around the resort while the work continues.

If you were counting on one of these activities during your visit, check with the front desk or the resort’s daily schedule to find the temporary location. Disney typically posts updated times and places so guests can still take part while the green is out of commission.

More Refurbishments Coming to the BoardWalk

The Village Green project is not the only work planned at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Several pool-area features are set to close in the new year for their own refurbishments.

The Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations will be temporarily closed from January 11, 2027, through April 2027. During that period, other pools at the resort will remain available for guests to use. If a winter or early spring trip is on your calendar, it is a good idea to factor these closures into your plans.

Final Thoughts

The new turf on the Village Green is the clearest sign yet that this short refurbishment is nearing completion, with a reopening targeted for early September. In the meantime, familiar activities like Movie Under the Stars, yoga, and crafts continue at other spots around the resort.

With additional pool-area projects lined up for early 2027, guests planning a BoardWalk stay will want to keep these timelines handy. Check back for updates as the courtyard reopens and the next round of work begins.
