Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is currently undergoing a period of significant transformation. While much of the attention has been focused on the rising Island Tower, infrastructure improvements around the existing resort grounds are also progressing steadily. Recent construction updates highlight the paving of a new sidewalk and the development of a reconfiguration entrance, aiming to streamline the arrival experience for guests and Disney Vacation Club members.
Progress on Paved Pathways

Construction crews have recently made visible progress on the pedestrian infrastructure surrounding the resort’s new roadway entrance. Fresh concrete has been poured to create a new sidewalk that curves alongside the developing road. This addition connects to an existing pathway at one end and meets a crosswalk at the other, ensuring safe pedestrian navigation through the area.
Further framework is already in place, suggesting that the sidewalk will continue extending toward the Great Ceremonial House. It appears that a curb cut may be added where the current pavement ends, allowing for seamless accessibility. On the opposite side of the new roadway, a cleared patch of dirt indicates that a second sidewalk may be constructed to mirror the first, providing ample walking space for guests.
Landscaping and Aesthetic Touches
The construction site also offers clues about the future aesthetic of the entrance. Surrounding the new pavement and in the median of the roadways, light-colored dirt has been prepared, likely for landscaping. Markers placed throughout these areas suggest the layout for future flowerbeds and greenery. These additions align with the resort’s lush, tropical theme, ensuring that the new infrastructure blends with the established atmosphere of the Polynesian Village.
Reconfiguring Resort Access

Beyond the sidewalks, substantial changes are coming to how vehicles access the property. A new guard shack is currently under construction just off Floridian Way. This updated entry point is positioned to lead vehicles more directly to the front of the Great Ceremonial House, serving as the primary entrance for guests arriving by car.
Once this new entrance is operational, the current entry point on Seven Seas Drive is expected to transition into a bus-only entrance. This separation of personal vehicle traffic from resort bus traffic is designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion during peak arrival and departure times.
Conclusion
These infrastructure updates at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort represent a practical improvement to the guest experience. By enhancing pedestrian pathways and reorganizing vehicle entry points, the resort is preparing for increased capacity and smoother operations. As construction continues, members and guests can look forward to a more streamlined and accessible arrival at this beloved destination.
