Pine forests, a melodious creek, rustic countryside… Get ready to discover the untamed wilderness at this celebrated DVC resort! However, you may be wondering what free amenities or activities you can try while lodging in this charming abode. In this article, I will give you a guide of the best, activities you can try while staying here. Let’s get started!
Campfire
The Wilderness Lodge, along with other DVC resorts, loves to host a daily campfire where families can indulge in warm, melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows. The campfire starts at 6pm and ends at 7pm nightly, near Geyser Point Bar and Grill. The cast members provide a stick so that you can hold the marshmallow in place and roast it in the fire. This is a fun, free activity to try with kids or adults!

Movies Under The Stars
The wonderful perk of staying at a DVC resort are the movies shown “under the stars” starting at 7:30 pm. In other words, the cast members play a Disney film on a projector, (with seats included) underneath the glowing nighttime stars, for all to enjoy. This is a must-do for families because a movie night brings you closer to each member of the group. You can laugh (or cry!) to the nostalgia of Disney filmography.

Poolside Activities
The best part of staying in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are the pools and jacuzzi offered for guests of the resort. There are two pools, one which is more family-friendly (Copper Creek springs), while the other is quiet and catered for adults (Boulder Ridge cove pool). The jacuzzi can be found in either side, so all parties can benefit from the warmth of this hot pool. There is a slide available in the Copper Creek springs area as well as many daytime pool activities hosted by the enthusiastic cast members. This is a must-do at the Wilderness Lodge because the poolside activities/challenges are exciting for all and the plants and animals that envelope the space make you feel like you are in a countryside paradise.

Games
If you make your way towards the back of Geyser Point Bar and Grill, you will find an enclosed patio with a plethora of games. There is a table to play ping-pong, billiards, foosball and a cornhole area. These are all free to play and a great way to entertain yourself and your group. On my last visit, I had a challenging and competitive game of ping-pong with my friends, which to this day brings us funny memories. There is also a basketball court at Boulder Ridge available for a group game or just for free-throws. All of these are engaging games to do while you stay in the Wilderness Lodge. Trust me, you will not be bored!

Other Recreation
Storytime Yoga, every Friday at 9:00 am, is free for all guests and it is held by an Advent Health professional. At 1:45 pm there is a Duck Race (using rubber duckies) held by the Copper Creek pool, which allows you to compete with other guests for the reigning duck champ title. The Wilderness Lodge also offers a one mile running/jogging/walking trail that lets you enjoy the wetlands and the natural landscape surrounding the resort. There is a free tour held daily in the lobby, (meet near the fireplace), which highlights the architecture and overall theme of the resort.
The cast members also hand out hidden Mickey’s or hidden character (Chip N’ Dale) scavenger hunts, which gives you a prize at the end. If you are all about fitness, then the Sturdy Branches health club is a perfect place to work out and rejuvenate your mind. The health club has televisions inside, just in case you need some entertainment while you pump some iron. Additionally, the resort has surprise character meetings, so if you cannot attend the parks, you might meet Mickey and his friends at the resort lobby (free of charge!).

If you book a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you will not need to think about what to do. There are activities throughout the hotel that are entertaining and free for all members of your party. This article showcases some great things to try so that you may enjoy your stay to the fullest. Have a fantastic time exploring the immensity of the wilderness!
