Maintenance Schedule for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Boat Dock in May

Disneys-Polynesian-Villas-Marina

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has scheduled maintenance for its primary boat dock beginning in May 2026. This project involves a temporary pause in watercraft service between the resort and Magic Kingdom. Guests staying at the resort during this time should be aware of how these changes affect daily travel and plan accordingly.

Project Timeline and Scope

Closed

May 11, 2026

Reopens

June 5, 2026

The maintenance work is part of a routine effort to ensure the long term safety and efficiency of the resort transportation systems. Here are the known details regarding the schedule:

  • Work is slated to start May 11 with reopening targeted for June 5, 2026
  • A specific completion date has not been announced by resort management.
  • Refurbishments of this nature typically last for several weeks.

Impact on Resort Transportation Services

While the dock is closed, the Gold Flag water taxi route will not serve the Polynesian Village Resort. This route typically connects guests directly to the entrance of Magic Kingdom. It is important to note that boat services at the Grand Floridian Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center will continue to operate under their standard schedules. The closure is limited to the specific dock located at the Polynesian.

Gold Flag

  • Service To: Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Magic Kingdom

The Gold Flag itinerary normally escorts visitors from the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, then on to Disney’s Polynesian resort, before returning to the Magic Kingdom. This route operates in the opposite direction to the resort monorail.

The service begins 30 minutes prior to park opening, including Extra Magic Hours and continues until 1.5 hours after the park closes. Typically, two launches are available on this route. ECVs cannot be accommodated on this route. Wheelchair users must be able to transfer out of their wheelchair and step down 2 feet into the boat.

The journey around the lake takes about 20 minutes, with approximately 7 minutes between each stop. The wait time between boats is usually 10-15 minutes.

Alternative Transportation Options

Guests have several efficient ways to travel to and from the theme parks during the closure. The following options are available to ensure a smooth transition to your destinations:

  • Monorail Service: The resort monorail station is located on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House and provides direct access to Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center.
  • Bus Transportation: Disney buses offer service to Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs.
  • Walking Paths: A paved pedestrian path connects the Polynesian Village Resort to the Grand Floridian and continues to the front gates of Magic Kingdom.

Planning Your Visit

Visitors should account for a few extra minutes when planning travel to the parks, especially during peak morning hours. Resort staff will be available at key locations to help direct guests to the monorail or walking paths. Regular updates regarding the project status will be provided by the resort to keep guests informed of any changes to the timeline.

By utilizing these alternative transportation methods, guests can navigate the Walt Disney World Resort efficiently. Proper planning ensures that the dock maintenance has a minimal effect on the overall vacation experience.
