If you have driven to Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort over the years, one familiar turn is now off the table. The intersection of Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way has permanently closed, changing how guests reach a couple of key destinations in the area. Here is what has changed, why it happened, and how to plan your drive.
What Has Changed at the Intersection
The intersection where Seven Seas Drive meets Floridian Way is now permanently closed. Roadwork in the area has progressed to the point where barriers are in place along the road, stopping vehicles from crossing between the two roadways.
In practical terms, you can no longer turn from Floridian Way onto Seven Seas Drive, and you cannot enter Floridian Way from Seven Seas Drive. Floridian Way itself remains open in both directions, so that road continues to function as usual.
Where the Closure Is Located
The closed intersection sits between Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center parking lots. That places it right in the middle of one of the busier travel corridors near Magic Kingdom.
With the change in place, Seven Seas Drive now ends at the main guest entrance to the Polynesian. Drivers who want to reach Seven Seas Drive from Floridian Way will need to route onto World Drive northbound instead.
Part of a Larger Roadway Project
This closure is not a standalone change. It is the latest step in a years-long construction effort aimed at improving traffic flow around Magic Kingdom.
The work is currently in phase three, which is scheduled to wrap up by the end of 2027. One of the notable pieces of this phase is a new traffic circle taking shape on Floridian Way. Changes like the intersection closure are part of reshaping how cars move through the area as these larger elements come together.
New Directions for Polynesian Village Guests
Ahead of the closure, guests with upcoming stays at the Polynesian received notices about the updated traffic pattern. If you are driving in, Disney asks that you follow the Polynesian Resort directional signage on North World Drive to reach the resort entrance.
Disney also suggested allowing extra time for both travel and parking. With the new routing, the drive may take a bit longer than you are used to, so building in a cushion is a good idea.
New Directions for Grand Floridian Guests
Guests at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa also received notice of the change. For that resort, Disney advised following the Grand Floridian directional signage and using Floridian Way to reach the entrance.
Since Floridian Way stays open in both directions, Grand Floridian guests can continue to rely on that road. Watching for the posted signage remains the simplest way to stay on the correct path as the construction continues.
