Ideas For Your First Day At Disney World

Typhoon Lagoon

Your first day at Disney World can feel a bit overwhelming. When you arrive, it might be at an odd hour which means you might not have enough time for a full park day. Many guests find themselves wondering what to do during their very first day on property. It can be especially difficult if you are arriving early and your resort room is not yet ready for you to relax in. Luckily, there are many options for guests who are just arriving, and there are many ways to make the most out of your arrival day. If you have an upcoming vacation to Disney World planned then check out some of these ideas for your first day.

Drop Off Your Bags

When you first arrive to your Disney resort you’ll be pleased to find that you can leave your bags at Bell Services for no additional charge. Simply check in with the Bell Services desk, leave your bags with them, and then call for your bags once your room is ready. This is extremely useful for guests because typically the resort rooms won’t be ready until 4pm. This way, guests can explore the resort and other areas on property without worrying about their belongings and bags.

Enjoy Disney Waterparks

Guests arriving during 2026 have a special perk associated with their visit. Guests staying at Disney resorts during 2026 get free waterpark admission during their check-in day. Simply show up and get in! Either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon will be operating during your vacation. Occasionally during summer months both waterparks will be in operation at the same time. Be sure to pack a separate bag with your swimwear and dry clothes so you can easily change without having access to your resort room early in the day.

Sit Down For Lunch

Making a sit-down dining reservation for lunch is a great way to kill some time during your check-in day. A character dining experience is an excellent start to your Disney vacation, and there are a few options throughout DVC resorts. Chef Mickey’s features the “Fab Five” of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy and is open for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Other options like Cape May Cafe only have characters during breakfast hours.

Explore Disney Springs

Disney Springs is a massive shopping and entertainment center that is free to enter. Exploring Disney Springs during your first day is a great way to get a taste of the Disney magic you will be in store for. Guests can also get some shopping done before they even enter a Disney park.
