How to Plan a Split Stay DVC Vacation

Animal Kingdom Lodge and Grand Floridian Split Stay

Most guests visiting Disney World plan on staying at a Disney resort, and choosing this Disney resort can be a difficult decision. With so many resorts to choose from it can be hard to narrow it down to just one. Staying DVC allows guests to stay at deluxe resorts, and by renting a stay with DVC Shop you can experience this at a more moderate price. If you are having trouble choosing which DVC resort to stay at during your upcoming vacation, then booking a split stay might be a good option for you. Continue reading to find out how!

Why Split Stay?

When determining whether or not to book a split stay vacation you might be wondering why guests choose to split their stay. Some guests just simply prefer to experience more than one resort. Others book their vacation using DVC rentals, and they might not have a reservation available for all of the dates they are interested in traveling. When you book two reservations that overlap each other you can easily move from one resort to another and have your full vacation.

Choose Resorts

Some guests might not have a choice in which resort to split their stay with, and they may end up having to take whatever is available. But if you do have a choice then you should choose wisely! Decide which resort to choose from and take your park plans into account when making your choice. For example, if you plan on visiting EPCOT later in the week then consider making your second resort one that is close to EPCOT. If you are looking forward to exploring the pool at a certain resort, then be sure to give yourself plenty of time at that resort before switching to another.

Logistics of Switching

Switching resorts during the middle of a vacation might sound stressful and difficult, but Disney makes it easy as they do with most things. Right after you check out you should take your luggage to Bell Services. They will transfer your luggage to your new resort room free of charge. With checkout being at 11am, and check-in being later in the afternoon, you might have a large gap in time without a room. Be sure to plan around this accordingly and spend some time in the parks.

Don’t Forget the Waterparks!

When you book a split stay vacation you shouldn’t forget one important detail! In the summer of 2026, guests get free waterpark admission during check-in day. If you have booked two reservations, then you will have two check-in days on your account. You now have two opportunities to visit one of Disney World’s waterparks. You can either go both days, or choose one day to go!
