Grand Floridian Cafe Closes for a Refurbishment Through Fall 2026

One of the more relaxed dining spots at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has stepped away for a refresh. Grand Floridian Cafe is now closed for a months-long refurbishment, and guests planning a stay this summer or fall will want to adjust their dining plans accordingly. Here is what has changed, where to eat in the meantime, and when the restaurant is expected to return.

What Is Happening at Grand Floridian Cafe

Grand Floridian Cafe served its last guests on July 19, 2026, before closing for the work. Construction walls have since gone up in front of the restaurant entrance and the restrooms next to it. If you walk through this part of the resort, you will notice the space is fully blocked off while the project is underway.

The closure is limited to the cafe itself. This is a refresh of an existing restaurant rather than a wider change to the resort, so the rest of the Grand Floridian continues to operate as usual.

1900 Park Fare Remains Open

Guests who enjoy the neighboring 1900 Park Fare can rest easy. That restaurant sits right next door and is open and unaffected by the construction. If you already had plans there, or you are looking for a character dining option during your visit, it remains available throughout the refurbishment.

Where to Find Brunch During the Closure

While Grand Floridian Cafe is closed, brunch is being offered at Citricos as a temporary replacement. Citricos is serving brunch from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving guests a morning and midday option within the resort. If a leisurely breakfast or brunch at the Grand Floridian was part of your routine, this is the place to head for now.

Restroom Access Nearby

Since the restrooms next to the cafe are behind the construction walls, you will need to use alternatives during your visit. Additional restrooms are available near the lobby and on the second floor. Keeping these locations in mind can save you a little time as you move through the resort.

What We Know About the Timeline

Work on the cafe is expected to run through October 2026. Disney has described the project as a refresh, though an exact reopening date has not been announced. If you are booking a trip during the closure window, it is worth planning your dining around the temporary options rather than counting on the cafe being open before fall.

Final Thoughts

The temporary closure of Grand Floridian Cafe means a short adjustment for guests who favor this spot, but the resort still has options to fill the gap. With 1900 Park Fare open next door and brunch available at Citricos, you can still enjoy a meal on property while the work continues. Keep an eye out for an official reopening date as the project moves toward its expected completion in October.
