Visiting the Disney parks for a vacation can be an incredibly magical experience. Something about the Disney parks keeps guests coming back again and again. While there are some slower times of year to visit the parks like after the holidays in the winter time, most of the seasons within the parks can be quite busy and filled with people. The crowds at Disney are kept under control very well, and many guests are dissipated throughout the different attractions and areas of the parks. But there still may come a time during your visit when you will feel the need to escape the crowd. If you find yourself at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and in need of a retreat, check out these areas where you can escape the crowd.
Discovery Island Trails
These pathways throughout Discovery Island offer guests many opportunities to escape from the crowd. These paths twist and turn and go into nooks and crannies, giving guests views of animals as well as up-close views of The Tree Of Life. These trails are great for those who want to escape the main pathways of the park and tuck away into quiet corners and hidden discoveries! Some of the animal exhibits along these trails like the Asian Small Clawed Otters also have quiet corners for sitting and relaxing in.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch
If guests want a bit of an escape they can board the Wildlife Express Train over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. This area of the park is isolated from the rest and is quite spacious. Not many guests make their way all the way out there, so it’s never really crowded or busy. Here guests can walk a scenic trail over to Conservation Station. This building is home to attractions like the Animation Experience, and guests can even view the medical area for the animals. This is also where guests can find Affection Section, a petting zoo filled with goats, pigs, cows, and other lovable creatures.

Nomad Lounge and Cocktail Bar
If you’re on an adult-only trip and want some quiet time in a lounge then head over to Nomad Lounge and Cocktail Bar. This bar and lounge serves delicious specialty cocktails as well as small plates. This lounge takes walk-ups, but a reservation is still recommended.

Flame Tree Barbecue Patio
This quick-service restaurant is famously home to a scenic patio overlooking the Expedition Everest attraction. This patio is the perfect place to escape the crowds with a view and some really great food. Flame Tree Barbecue serves favorites like ribs, chicken, macaroni and pulled pork, and even smokehouse chicken salad. If you want to limit the chance of this restaurant becoming crowded then visit during hours that aren’t typical for a lunch or dinner.
