Many guests visit Disney World with the intention of staying on property. This is a great idea for anyone, but especially for families who need a quick place to retreat to when they get tired at the parks. Some guests enjoy Disney resorts that feel like Disney and have themes of Disney films and animation. For those guests, resorts like Art of Animation and All-Star Movies are recommended. But for guests who want more of an escape from the parks rather than a continuation, there are several lovely resorts that do just that. Here are a few of our favorite resorts that feel like an escape from the parks.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
If you want to stay DVC then look no further than the original DVC resort: Disney’s Old Key West. This resort is perfect for offering a true escape from the Disney parks. Disney’s Old Key West resort is quite spacious, and feels like a small beach town in the Florida Keys. It’s home to a popular restaurant called Olivia’s Cafe that is known for its brunch, and it features several pools. There’s even a playground for the kiddos that has beach sand throughout. Guests can rent surrey bikes and explore the grounds, enjoy the pools and whirlpool hot tubs, and grab a drink at Gurgling Suitcase. Disney’s Old Key West Resort is quiet, laid-back, and has spacious DVC villas.

Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Located on the monorail line, this deluxe resort offers an island paradise. Disney’s Polynesian Resort, home to DVC’s Island Tower, is a relaxing yet lively resort located near Magic Kingdom. Guests can enjoy monorail access which lets them access Magic Kingdom and EPCOT quickly. Disney’s Polynesian Resort feels like an island paradise within central Florida. It’s home to many restaurants including the popular Ohana. It’s feature pool has a volcano waterslide, and the Island Tower pool has a Moana themed splash playground. Guests can also stroll along the sandy lakeside beaches and feel like they are in a true paradise.

Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
Located within walking distance of EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort feels like a true retreat. This Boardwalk has live entertainment at night, and several food stands and stalls like Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs ands Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas. At night, guests 21 and over can enter Atlantic Dance Hall and dance the night away. Adult guests can also grab a drink at Abracadabar, or a cake at Cake Bake Shop Bakery.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
Another lovely DVC resort to enjoy is Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. This spacious resort is within walking distance to Disney Springs, and has boat transportation to both Disney Springs and other resorts. Guests love Saratoga Springs for its many pools, water playgrounds for children, and stunning resort grounds. Home to a great quick-service dining location called The Artist’s Palette, guests can grab unique meals fast.
