Yay! You’ve decided to book a family vacation to the Walt Disney Resort during the holiday season. While Walt Disney World is a magical place year-round, there is just something special about visiting during the holidays. You’re going to have the most magical trip.
The holiday season is one of our favorite times to take a Disney vacation. We have become expert holiday Disney Parks travelers over the years. Therefore, we are sharing three mistakes we made on previous holiday Disney trips. Read on to learn from our mistakes and ensure you don’t make the same.
1. Don’t Forget To Pack Long Sleeve Shirts
We envision happiness, warmth, and palm trees when I think of Florida. After all, it is nicknamed the Sunshine State for a reason. Don’t let the nickname mislead you, though. When you visit during the holiday season, it will likely be chilly. The average Orlando temperature in November is 79 degrees, but it gets much cooler in the evening. The average Orlando temperature in December is 75 degrees, with a low of 55 degrees. So, bring a long-sleeved shirt with you. Even if you do not need the long-sleeved shirt during the day, pack it in your backpack. Trust us. You will want to pull it out at night when the temperature drops.

2. Don’t Skip Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach reopened on November 6th, 2023, and will remain open until mid-March 2024. Previously, this park was open during the summer along with Typhoon Lagoon, but now, the parks are on an alternating schedule. Guests can expect to see their favorite waterslides and attractions like Summit Plummet and Downhill Double Dipper. But who are we kidding? Everyone goes to water parks to eat, right? Even if you’re not supposed to go swimming for an hour afterward.

We are very excited about the new menu items: S’mores Churros – Churro bites topped with graham cracker crumbs, marshmallow whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and toasted mini marshmallows. If s’mores are not your thing, they’ll be joined by a Banana Split Churro offering, which is Churro bites topped with banana slices, sliced strawberries, pineapple chunks, cookie and brownie pieces, chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry. And over at the Warming Hut, there will be two new wing flavors: Honey Sriracha and Garlic Parmesan. Are you drooling yet?! We sure are!
3. Don’t Skip The Holiday Attraction Overlays
During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park, Space Mountain becomes Space Mountain Holiday Run featuring Christmas tunes and lighting. The Teacups feature a similar experience. Over at EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy sometimes transforms for the holidays, too.
