Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Construction Update: Bus Stop, Dock Refurb & More

Disney's Polynesian Village to remain closed until summer 2021, DVC Polynesian remains open

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort continues to see steady construction progress, with several visible updates around the property. Recent work suggests the new bus area is nearing completion, while refurbishment projects remain active at the Great Ceremonial House, the Tuvalu building, and the resort’s boat dock.

For guests planning a stay soon, these changes help show which areas are wrapping up and which may still affect the resort experience. Here is a closer look at the latest construction activity.

New Bus Stop Nears Completion

One of the clearest signs of progress is at the new bus stop. The structure now has hanging lanterns installed at both ends, and the lights were already turned on during the latest update. That indicates the area now has working electrical service, which usually marks an important late-stage step in construction.

Crews were also seen finishing gutter work, which appears to be one of the last remaining tasks. The nearby roadway also looks complete, suggesting this part of the transportation update may be close to opening.

For guests, that could mean a smoother arrival and departure process once the new bus loop is fully in service.

Exterior Work Continues at the Great Ceremonial House

The Great Ceremonial House is also still undergoing exterior refurbishment. Earlier work included repainting the building’s vertical beams, and crews are now replacing additional exterior elements.

During the latest visit, workers were actively installing new boards on the building. While the overall look of the lobby remains familiar, these updates point to a broader effort to refresh the resort’s central structure without changing its identity.

This type of project is less disruptive than a full overhaul, but it is still noticeable for guests spending time near the main entrance and lobby.

Tuvalu Roof Project Remains Ongoing

Construction is still active on the roof of the Tuvalu longhouse. The old orange paneling has been removed, and new paneling is now visible on the lagoon-facing side. That material has not yet been painted, so the project is clearly still in progress.

Because this work has been going on for months, it remains one of the longer-running visible projects at the resort.

Boat Dock Refurbishment Underway

The Polynesian boat dock recently closed for a scheduled refurbishment, and crews have already removed much of the flooring. This routine project is expected to continue through June 5.

For guests, the dock closure may affect transportation plans during that period, so checking current travel options before arrival would be a smart step.

Conclusion

Construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is moving forward on several fronts. The bus stop appears close to finished, while work at the Great Ceremonial House, Tuvalu, and the boat dock continues. For Disney World fans and future guests, these updates offer a useful snapshot of how the resort is being refreshed over time.
