Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rides That Are Perfect for Rainy Days

Festival of the Lion King Show - Animal Kingdom

The weather in central Florida can be quite unpredictable at times. Disney World is located in Orlando, and many of its attractions are outdoors with some being weather dependent. But rainy days at Disney don’t have to mean less magic! Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a lively park with many attractions. Like the other Disney parks, the weather doesn’t have to be perfect in order to enjoy the experiences throughout. There are several attractions at Animal Kingdom that are perfect for rainy days. Here are just a few of our favorites.

Conservation Station

On a day with less than perfect weather, Animal Kingdom’s Conservation Station is the perfect place to kill time. Once you board the Wildlife Express Train you’ll head over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch where Conservation Station is located. This indoor attraction features several areas in which guests can learn all about animals and their environments. Guests can watch as nutritionists prepare the animals’ food, and a window overlooks a medical exam room where guests might even be able to catch a procedure, checkup, or surgery. Here is also where you’ll find the Animation Experience, where guests can take a short drawing class with a real Disney animator and learn how to draw one of their favorite characters.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

Even though this attraction takes place outdoors, it’s still a great attraction to experience in the rain. As long as the weather isn’t too bad, Kilimanjaro Safaris will remain open in the rain. The safari vehicles are covered, so guests won’t get wet during the attraction, and the rain does tend to bring out some additional animal activity. This attraction might even have a shorter line during the rain!

Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

Animal Kingdom’s newest attraction is located inside the park’s icon, the Tree of Life theater. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! is a 4D show experience. Suitable for guests of all ages, this show brings your favorite Zootopia characters to life in a brand new way.

Festival of the Lion King

This Broadway-style stage show is an incredible experience that just can’t be missed. Festival of the Lion King takes place in an indoor theater, so the rain won’t disrupt the show. At 30-35 minutes long, this show is also a great way to kill time during bad weather. These performances will leave you nostalgic and mesmerized, and yearning for more!
